Question about Bissell 3590 CleanView Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

No suction I live in a house with two bernese mountain dogs... very large animals who shed a LOT.  I've cleaned the filters, the roller, and gotten as far into the hoses as I can without taking the entire machine apart.  It's still not cleaning as well as I know it can... nothing is making it into the debris receptacle.  What can I do?

Re: No suction

Hi elora,

I live in a house with three shedding cats. I also have the same vacuum. About twice a year, I have to getinto the area of the vacuum where the motor is. There is a little pring loaded vavle that sometimes gets hair in it. You may need to go there to get the little valve cleaned out.

Carpet suction is not working

There are several filters that either need to be cleaned or replaced. Most forget about the filter under the canister. That is the main one for floor suction. More than likely it is clogged and needs to be replaced.

My Dyson DC17 is not keeping the suction very well. There seems to be a problem of some sort with the spot where the filter goes. The two years I owned it I rinsed it out every 6 months and it was clean....

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. You might find it helpful to check the cleaner for blockages, since these could affect performance and may mean the filter needs washing more often than usual. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

It's also a good idea to take a look at the video linked below, which demonstrates the correct way to wash the filters. This should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergents, and make sure it's totally dry before replacing it.

Following these steps should allow you to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you're still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to, someone will be in contact as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

On the back of my lg kompressor vacuum below the retractable cord is a suction plug that keeps sucking in when the vacuum is turned on it is supposed to stay out the increase suction. what is the solution...

Remove the hose fitting on the lower back of the vacuum and you will probably find a large amount of debris lodged in the hose. That hose leads to an opening right behind the main roller brush. If you remove the brush, it is easier to remove any clogs that are inside the hose. Once you have checked that there is no clogs in that hose reconnect the hose and the brush. You should then remove all three filters and wash only the two filters inside the canister. The third filter is a HEPA filter located in a compartment on the lower front side of the vacuum. Make sure you do not wash the HEPA filter.Clean it by tapping it inside a trash can outside the house since a lot of dust will come out of it. Once the other two filters are dry, put them back inside the canister and also jake sure that the canister is empty and clean.

Hair on top of washable filter

your animals are shedding.if you have pets then you will have to clean the filters more often depending on how much their shedding.its probably a good idea to clean the filters after each use if your getting that much might want to turn the vacuum over and clean the brush roller and the underside because the static electricity from the hair will cause it to cling to the under carriage

Not picking up fuzz

I've had a similar problem with my DC07 Animal, although there WAS suction and the machine seemed in otherwise good condition, the vacuum seemed to be working normally, yet very little was vacuumed up. I would go over and over sections of carpet and get very little debris in the container. In my case, the cleaning brush roller bar was competely covered in debris (hair, dirt, string, stuffing from our chewed up dog toys, etc.). I removed the bottom cover and manually removed all this debris from the cleaner/brush roller, reattached the cover and it worked like new with great suction.

Dyson animal

Is the noise a loud screaming or a grinding/vibration? The screaming is an air flow problem and you'll want to check your hoses are clear and all the seals are tight. The grinding is an issue with the roller/belt/clutch/motor/housing. From what I'm reading, both problems are common on the Dyson animal.
