Broken Switch on Thumper Mini Pro2

I hope you can help. After 9 months of use the switch on my minipro has stopped working. it no longer "clicks" between settings and consequently cannot be switched on or off. Does anyone know how I can fix this or where I can send it to get it fixed?

I have the same model with the same problem. Once I got it apart the I rolled up some steel wool nice and tight and stuck it in the switch openings that are clear on top of the switch. I then took a small flat screwdriver and moved the steel wool up and down along the switch until I could see the contacts clean. I moved the switch up to clean the bottom contacts, and down to get access to the top ones. I plugged it in and it works fine in all three speeds. Prior to this I was just getting a hum.

One more thought. Make sure you blow and shake out all the steel wool fragments.

There are plastic retainer flanges on the bottom-interior of the switch, which may break as you pry off the switch. (fine screwdrivers, such as jewelers variety, enable prying it off).
Safest way to remove the switch cover intact is by dis-assembling the entire unit, and then pushing the flanges inward as the switch cover is removed. Lot of work!
Alternative is to order new switch cover from the company( few $), and have it available when you simply pry off the switch cover. If flanges broken ,then use the 'new' repalcement.

Where can i get a thumper mini pro repaired?

Actually, you can remove the switch without opening the case, by simply carefully prying off the switch (which is actually a switch cover)
and then pushing the retaining clips of the "real" switch itself until it comes out. Then inspect & clean, and see if that solves your problem.
Another possible cause might be blown circuitry in the over-heat limiter.

Thumper mini pro stopped working while in use?

Did it ever restart? If your'e not aware, there is an overheat prevention that will shut down the unit after prolonged use.

Rocker arm hums does not cycle

Do you mean that it is the motor that is "humming", and you sense vibration in the pads? Perhaps it's only from dirty contacts on the switch (which can be cleaned easily). Otherwise, it means that the motor is either broken or not being allowed to function due to breakage of one of the links in the system. For that, you'll have to open the case & check.

Take apart case to repair switch

Atleast on model which I own (~6 yrs old), there is no need to take apart the case for switch removal. Simply pry the switch cover off (gently) and switch will then slide out for cleaning & evaluation.

2003 mini cooper drivers door will not lock with key fob or inside lock switch, will only lock manually turning the key. All other locks work properly.

A solenoid operates the lock mechanism. Does it make a 'click' when the switch is operated? If so, then the linkage connecting the solenoid core to the lock has probably come undone. If no click, then the solenoid itself may be defective or the wiring to it is broken or disconnected at some point. Either way, the inside door panel must be removed to access. Hope this helps!

There is a long delay before the massager will acturally start to vibrate. Is this something that can be repaired?

The switch contacts are probably dirty. If you pry off the switch (actually it's a cover), you will see the actual switch underneath. There are several sets of contacts that control the speeds. Use a cotton swab wetted with 91% rubbing alcohol and clean the contacts. This made my Thumper work like brand new again. My is an older unit, and has open switch contacts. The newer models may have a different switch. This procedure was recommended to me when I called Thumper about my Mini Pro 2 not working properly. You can reach them at 1-800-848-6737.

Disassemble to repair

I just decided to try to fix mine. There are all together 5 screws. The two on the handle are covered with plastic caps which can be pulled out by sticking a duct tape and pulling it up. The other three screws are in the thumper head and are covered with the purple violet rubber piece. I removed it with my fingers. There are also two plastic bolts in the head of the thumper opposite to the handle. I removed them by using a sharp knife to loosen them and pulled with pliers.
I purchased two thumpers over time and in both the switch failed. I see that the switch in the handle is linked with the underlying mechanical switch by a very thin plastic piece. What a miserable design. That piece broke off in both thumpers rendering them unusable.
Good luck. Artur
