I am replacing the original Hover radio with a new double din. How do I know which wire is which on the original harness? Apart from the speaker wires the wires are Black, White, Blue with Red stripe, Red with black stripe and Blue. Which is the ignition wire, which is the battery wire, which is the ground wire and what goes on the other two?

In my experience the easiest and most efficient way to hook up a new radio in a vehicle is to use an adapter that connects the original wiring to the new radio. There are several site on the web that specialize in these connect adapters for many vehicles. You can do a search for your new radio to the vehicle you have.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Are you referring to the trucks wiring harness? I hope you purchased an integration harness. Your truck has a databus system and an integration harness is needed to maintain certain functions including door chimes, warning chimes, on star (if equupped) etc.
also the factory radio does not have a switched power lead to turn the radio power on with the key. That is also handled via databus.
first and foremost you need to buy a car audio installation kit for your car model and year. Wal mart has some, but i think you may need to drive down to your local car audio shop and buy one from them if wal mart don't have them. Remove the old/factory radio. If an aftermarket radio is already installed then you may get lucky and find the harness already installed, but depending on what kind or radio it is( ex: DIN or Double DIN), but the specs for your radio is Double DIN(fat) so you may still need to buy the installation kit. Once you have the kit, everything is color coded, just match the wires and connect, then plug the harness after you have secured the wires. For a clean professional installation look, solder your wires(60/40 solder and soldering iron needed) and seal the connection with a heat shrink tube(audio shop carries the tube as well) and your good to go. I found you the install manual, just copy and paste(make sure all wires are connected with keys off the ignition until everything is good and connected)
Hi, pull the trim plate off the dash around the radio. The trim may go all around the instrument panel. With the trim plate off, you can see the factory radio screws. Take the screws out, pull the radio out and remove the connectors, including the antenna wire.
You will need an adapter to fit the aftermarket radio snugly into the dash. They sell these wherever they sell aftermarket radios. I recommend you also buy the cable adapter. If you don't, at least buy the antenna adapter of you will no be able to plug your antenna into the new CD player.
Follow the instructions on putting the adapter together--it's made for a lot of different cars. You need it to screw into your dash where the screws came out.
If you buy the wire adapter, follow the directions that come with it. I recommend you solder the wires, but you can use those crimp connectors if you don't have soldering equipment.
If you don't buy the adapter cable, use the factory wire colors below to match up the aftermarket wires to your factory wires. Wrap any solder connections with electrical tape and carefully plug everything back in, including the antenna adapter and antenna cable. With the adapter plate attached to the new player, carefully push the wiring aside to get the player into the slot and then screw it in. check the system for proper operation and then replace the trim panel.
Enjoy your CDs, and let me know if you have any questions.

hey there,i hope the project turns out great, 1) round up all materials needed such as door components and indash radio, install plug for aftermarket radio, get a radio install kit they are like 10-15 bucks ,and if ur doing a double din radio you will have to cut trim to fit and inside compartment behind radio, but if your doin stock 1 din you will be fine. 2) in order to get to radio in dash you must pull dash bezel off from around gauges and radio and the radio has push down release tabs on both sides of radio ...push these down and pull radio outwards. 3) use new wire plug harness and install radio using install kit so radio sits in it and slides back in with tabs. 4) door panels come off with (3)crews that are 7mm near door handle, bottom of door near speaker, and inside where the switch panel is.must pull up switch panel to get to screw others are visible. 5) take mirror cap off and lift upwards on panel the whole panel will come off make sure to unplug vanity light at bottom door and all switches.remove n set to side door ....remove speaker and unplug then install new speaker cut plug install new crimped wire connector caps and install speaker and do reverse to put door back on and this go's for the otherside as well. 6) if theres more to your system write back with any ?'s ok ill try to help as much as possible.
