Question about Transtar Chrysler A500-SE 42RE, 44RE Transmission 2000 - Up Master Rebuild Kit

Open Question

Transmission problem 42re automatic trans in a dodge truck. Truck warms up for a minute or two pull out of driveway first gear is good, at the very end of second it will kick back down to first and stay their until I let off the gas a little and it will shift right into third. Other times it will catch its self or act like it will kick down for a split second what I mean is the RPM's will go from 2100 to 2400 right before it's about to shift into third and it will shift with out me letting off the gas after words it's like it never happened truck shifts great for the remainder of the drive plenty of power no issues what so ever until the truck is turned off for a few minutes then it will do it again witch led's me in the electrical/sensor/TCM problem. It seems like a kick down issue. Bad band, kick down cable out of adjustment, band adjustment but it's very elusive. New band, kick down cable is adjusted and the band is adjusted, fluid and filter change no metal shavings in pan. No clue what approach next.

2001 Dodge ram -2500 automatic. transmission slow to engage, months later started not shifting into 3rd gear, then 1 months later slow to engage into 2nd , now only 1st gear......

sounds like filter could be clogged, if it hasn't been changed in a while. you can try to replace throttle position sencer, it is like your old trans kinkenge system, only now, it is elect. it tells trans when to shift, like your speed sencer on trans doe's. both can make it act like it is.

2000 dodge ram 1500 slt ext cab automatic transmission shifts in first gear but takes a long time

Lack of info, does it take a long time to **** to second gear, or second gear to first, either way you have possible governor pressure issues, or 2nd gear band adjustment, whats the rest of the shits like, throttle cable adjustment, drop the trans pan and look for debris, if you need more help, more info is needed from your end. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP

Possible tranmission slippage??

yes this is a defective trans, u either have a worn out direct clutch or a hydraulic leak inside the trans, u can try changing the fluid and filter it may help, if not you will need to replace the trans.

Remove and check the trans electrical connector, this sounds like a connector problem, look for green corrosion or loose pins

1996 Dodge Ram Pickup Automatic requires shifting in order to run

It sounds like when you had the trans service don't he didn't do something right. He might have put the wrong fluid in. Does the trans make noise? Sounds like the trans is going in your truck.

Excess transmission fluid

The easiest way is to pull the line off and put a rubber hose over the connection. Crank the engine over. The best way is to drop the pan and put a new gasket on it and fill it with 4 quarts of fluid. Look at your dipstick, it will tell you whether the truck needs to be in neutral or park to check the fluid.
