If the red light flashes for a while, with a clicking noise while trying to turn on. It's either the ysus or xsus board, they are both easy to replace, my xsus board has blown twice, last board I bought off ebay £35 lasted 2 years. Just bought another for £16 + free postage.

If you can use a screwdriver & disconnect/connect a few ribbon cables & connectors, you'll save yourself £££s

google or search youtube for video guides, you won't be disappointed ;)

telltale signs are when the tv starts to make a clicking off/on sound while watching tv, without actually turning off, That's the time to look for a spare ysus or xsus board, before it blows. It could last months or weeks but better to be safe.

Takes me 15mins to take the back off, replace the board & put the back back on. & I'm a novice.

SOURCE: Plasma TV-power light does not come on

Hello!

most probably the fuse inside the circuit blown out, You should open the back of the tv to become circuit board visible. But this hard when novice do it.

To be sure that everything will be alright i would rather suggest you to bring the tv to the nearest service center. maybe warranty work for that.

best regards,melnavz

SOURCE: Tv won't turn on

I had a similar problem when there was a power outage or the lights went briefly out. I unplugged the TV and left it for a few days/weeks and then plugged it in and the TV worked. I think newer TVs should be treated like a home computer and put them on surge protectors.

SOURCE: Hi. My Philips flat TV will not show any picture

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

Hi,

You have diagnosed the fault yourself. The main board of your TV is defective and needs to be replaced.

Good Luck.

My samsung tv turns on and off repeatedly on its own. I replaced the power supply board with no luck. What should I try next?

Hi Jonathan,
Turning on and turning off is the joint function of the power supply and the main board. You have changed the power supply, so the only thing left to replace is the main board.
Good luck.

Sound is all static

remove the rear cover to access the main board. now look for the main board, and the amplifier ic. turn on the tv unit for a while and then turn it off again then unplugged. try to touch the amplifier ic, if too hot then it needs replacement which mean some pins get shorted.if you don't know on how it will be done just leave it to a trained tv technician.

Samsung dnie tv wont turn on. We had a power out last night and since then the samsung would not turn on. The red light for the power comes on, but the screen is black....

Had this happen with a power outage also a couple months ago. Call your insurance person and get them to write it off. I had a guy try to fix it - put in a $300 main board and it works again, but now it has vertical white lines on the display. I think it is deteriorating from the other damage it took. I think the best thing is to get the insurance person to write it off and get another TV. You will reduce headaches in the long run.
