HI,

Switch on your computer and listen for a beeb sound.... if no beeb sound available then your Motherboard has a problem.

if beeb sound comes then switch off your computer and see for the loose contacts on motherboard.

eg. remove ram, clean ram socket and put back the ram

your problem may solved.

thanks

After installing my Intel D845WN m/board and connecting up the power supply with the ram, AGP card etc., the processor fan on top of the heat sink started running when I switched on the main power supply...

You probably have the case panel connections in the wrong places. Double check the board's manual and the connectors. Most case manufacturers have the connectors printed with their functions.

Please check this Intel link that shows specifications for memory that can be used in the Intel D845WN motherboard.
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845wn/sb/cs-008941.htm#1

When upgrading or increasing memory. The DIMM's should be the same. The Intel D845WN board requires the memory to run at 3.3volt. If the memory you are adding is within the Intel spec's, than switch the two Dimm's. Insert only the new DIMM & check if the system hangs. If it does than it is possible the new memory it either not compatable or is defective. For more information about the D845WN board download the manual for you're Intel board. http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845wn/sb/cs-008937.htm

Luck!
Mike

Won't boot, display stuck at Intel desktop board, can't go to BIOS

I had this exact same problem, turns out i just needed to unplug a couple USB devices that were conflicting with the startup. It worked inexplicably well. If you have an external HD i'd start by unplugging that, then other accessories.

Seems there is a loose wire, loose card, motherboard failure or mis-plugged wire. IS everything in right?

No screen display at all and no short beep for post-intel D845WN board

Try the old memory back in and see if you get the bios screen showing up, if not find the clear cmos jumper either marked JBat 1, clrclk, clrcmos or similar and try again. If neither your old memory or new no longer allows the pc to boot, i would say that the motherboard has been stressed when you have fitted the memory by forcing a flexing in the board and damaging the cmos chip, only replacing the board can resolve the issue if that is the case
