It can't be reset without entering the correct PIN or driving to the security location. Failing this, the unit must be sent back to Garmin.

To unlock your unit you must go with-in 50 meters of your SECURITY LOCATION , that is the place you first setup your GPS, it could of been your home or office.

Once there the unit will automatically unlock, reset your pin number at that time in the Security menu.

If you cant get to the Security location you must send your unit back to Garmin with the proper receipts of ownership.

Take the unit to the location at which you first entered the PIN. This is the Security Location. The unit will unlock and you can reset the PIN.

My wife entered the wrong pin number by accident on the nuvi 750. She tried turning the unit off and then back on to reset back to "enter pin" code mode however she gets the response "you must return to...

If you turn the unit off, wait about ten seconds and turn it back on, yes, it should go back to the "Enter PIN" screen. If, however, you turn it off then immediately turn it back on it will continue to tell you to return to the security location.

I know my PIN number but can't remember my security location. My wife has the Garmin and it's stating "invalid pin" she accidentaly entered the address of the location instead of the pin. Now she getting...

Sometimes this happen to me when I fumble the PIN entry. I have to switch it off and then re-start and enter the PIN more carefully. When choosing a secret unlock location, choose somewhere other than your home - it can be nearby but noe AT home. This is case a thief finds where you live and takes the nuvi there as most people make Home the Unlock Location.

Unlocking security code

The first thing you have to do is enter the correct PIN or take the unit to the location at which the PIN was set. It will now unlock. You can then press the icon that looks like a wrench, and look for an icon that says Garmin Lock (it is in different places on the different units, and I forgot exactly where it is on the 660, sorry.) You can then change the security code from there. If you are trying to unlock the unit without the PIN number, you will be unable to do so without taking the unit to the security location. In that case, your only option is to send the unit to Garmin.

Reset pin

If you forgot your PIN, all you have to do is go to the physical location where you originally set your PIN and turn the unit on (make sure antenna is up). It will not ask for a PIN and you will be then able to change the PIN to whatever you like.

Good Luck!

Someone changed my pin # and i dont know the security location

Then you probably stole it. Garmin's anti-theft is pretty creative. Enjoy your $700 paper weight.

Forget my gps nuvi pin

There is no way to unlock a locked GPS without the PIN or going to the location where the PIN was set. If you do not know these, the unit must be sent back to Garmin.
