Error code S0042, DIMAGE G600

The S0042 error code relates to a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended)
Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. Let me know if it worked!

When I push the power button the lense moves in and out several times then the camera just turns off. I tried charging the battery and holding the power button down for 10 sec. but still does the same...

The power button has two purposes explanable;
1. A firm press and hold would shut down the entire device, where would be common feature for the camera to perform a system check to include the lense functionalilty.

2. A gentle press and release of the same power button should capture a snap shot only after the camera has been powered on, by the similar process as pressing firmly the power button

Remember

Pressing firmly the power button would shut down camera completely after a system check if only the camera was on.

Pressing firmly the power button when the camera is off would turn on the device by performing a system check also.

Important note
The camera when powered on would have an indicator light of ready to capture snap shots.
The camera would autoshut down when left on for an extensive duration without capturing snaps.
The instance of such would generate a camera check once more before powering off completely

The lense adds to the cameras feature capabilities of acquiring images. a function of the lense is capture an impressive image where the mechanism of drawing closer to the object is made possible by a moveable lense. The Olympus FE-340 Digital camera is powered by a battery requiring sufficient energy for a snap shot. keep in mind that, the camera can perform without the lense. However, the device is designed to automatically responded whenever the lense is required.

Important note;
1 a solution to the camera is with the source of energy in which instance batter power.
2.Dislogde the entire power area consisting of battery, check for improper installation; reinstall the battery in appropaitely noticing the installation indications of power supply. Cover the battery compartment properly, and charger afterwords.

Caution
1.Charge the battery for the entire duration known of a full charge.
2.Unplug thereafter when the full charge indicator is visible.
3.Try on the device for improvement in situation by taking photo snap shots

My Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W55 camera does not turn on properly. When I press the gallery button, everything runs smoothly. When I press the on button, the lens opens and closes several times, making a little...

Hi. I had exactly the same problem with my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7. The problem started after while lense was fully open, the battery became 100% empty. I did not have access to new batteries and did not have my charger with me so I put the camera on my car seat and went home. After charging the batteries, I turned the camera Off and the lense retracted 100%. Later on I tried to transfer some pictures to my PC. After connecting the camera to my PC with the dial in the P position and lense fully open I turned the dial to play in order to transfer photos. After transferring the pictures, I turned the camera off and disconnected from the computer.

I turn the camera on to take new pictures next day, The lense would go up, and and turn with lense fully open. It would never close. The screen was black with a message "Turn the camera on and off again". I tried 30 times or more and the same thing would happen again.

Here is what I did to fix my camera and it has been working normally since then.

1- I cleaned around the outside of the lense with lent free cloth

2- I used dust OFF to get raid of the remaining small dust particles from around the lense.

3- While turning the camera off, I pushed (down, up and turn) the lense in (NOT TOO Hard) by my hand. If you push the lense too hard, you may damage the mechanicall moving parts of the lense.

4- After a few tries, the lense retracted 90% +. I then pushed the lense a little harder all the way in, the way it normall retracts. The lense cover also closed 100%.

5- I turned the Camera on and off a few times. It was opening and closing exactly the way it used to. My Cybershot has been working okay since then.

I read a lot and here is what cause my lense to malfunction.

While lense was fully open and battery died, some small particles got on the lense and prevented lense from fully opening or closing.

In summery: two things could have caused your camera lense to malfunction.

1- if you had dropped your camera hard, some mechanical parts may have got damaged or dislocated. In this case you have to open the lense and replace the damaged part, clean and put it back on the camera. This is too risky for most ordinary people. You would most likely make it WORST.

2- If you did not drop it, most likly, some how some small dust particles got on the outside of the lense and they prevent the lense or the lense cover from fully opening and closing. If this is your case, please follow exactly what I did and your camera would be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, after looking for a solution to this problem and not having much luck in finding any i started to try and come to my own conclusions and to experiment.
i've noticed that when i press the eject button (with the cover off of the xbox and the DVD drive) the lense would slide back away from the xbox, which im not too sure but i think its what it's supposed to do. I took a guess that the lense would move too far back and when you insert a disc it goes in and the lense does not see it because the disc is just out of its view.
After this i manually moved the lense close to the spindle (or whatever you call it =P) gently... i then put the cover back on the dvd drive and inserted the disc. And VOILA! it worked.
Mind you this is only a quick and temporary fix and my xbox is currently set up with no top cover on it lol, to save me the time of disassembling my xbox 360 and reassembling it.
So for now im using a sketchy looking xbox 360 with no top cover... but hey it works and i saved 100 bucks. And i kno most ppl know this but if you still have your warranty DO NOT try this as it will void ur warranty, so until i find a better solution, ENJOY!

Panasonic lumix 5.0

The TZ3 has a design problem with their new automatic lens cover, ie, manual lense cap on TZ1 was illiminated on TZ3.

Make sure your lense cover is completely retracted in front of the lense. If not, nudge it fully opened and see if this solves you problem. If it does, contact Panasonic with your problem. If not under warranty, tell them you want them to fix 'their' problem on your camers. Google it on the net and see how common this problem is.

Digimax i6 pmp SHUTTER problems!!!

Congratulations on fixing the problem! However I just wanted to let you and everyone else who reads this solution know that the part which failed on your camera is not actually the shutter. The shutter is deep inside the lens assembly right next to the image sensor. What you were dealing with was simply a protective cover for the lens. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
