Question about Hampton Bay 3-Light Brushed Nickel Ceiling Wall Round Fixture EC554SBA

Open Question

Halogen bulb replacing

I can't unscrew the bulb in my fixture in order to replace it. I have the correct bulb - a 50watt R20. But there is a frosted glass around the bulb sides so all I can do is try to use my finger tips and pressure on the bulb to twist it and unscrew it. The other two bulbs move fine but this third one just won't budge. The man at Home Depot suggested a suction cup which I've tried but the cup won't stay attached to the bulb. How do I possibly remove this?

Need replacement halogen lights for SU3

These Halogen bulbs are inefficient, and run so hot that they often damage the reflector and bulb socket if they are left on too long. Fortunately there is an easy fix for this. At most stores that sell the exact replacement Halogen bulbs (Lowes, Home Depot and others) you will see a selection of LED bulbs on the same display rack that will fit into the same socket the Halogen bulbs use. It is IMPORTANT that you know the code number stamped on the base of your Halogen bulb AND its voltage because some Halogen bulbs are 12 volts and some are 110 volts. If you can't read the labeling on the bulb, look for the wiring diagram usually glued inside the range hood or look in your owner's manual. Once you know your Halogen bulb's code number, look at the packages that the LED replacements come in. There will be a list of Halogen bulb code numbers that the LEDs are meant to replace. The male sockets on these LED replacements will be shaped just like the sockets on your original Halogen bulbs so they will plug in easily. However, just like LEDs bulbs that replace the old incandescent bulbs in your table lamps or ceiling sockets, they have an electronic section included in there base to run the LEDs and it makes the LED bulb slightly longer than the much simpler Halogen bulb. For my stove hood it meant that the bulb would not quite fit into the reflector in the hood. I had to use a Dremel tool to remove a bit of the reflector to get a proper fit. The LED bulb runs SO much cooler and uses so much less electricity that now I can use the range hood as a night light in the kitchen. I never felt safe doing that with the two Halogen bulbs since they ran so hot that they were burning the fixture that held them in the stainless steel hood and were melting the wiring entering the socket base. This upgrade to your range hood is well worth the effort.

Removed the switch plate and connected the two wires going into the dimmer box and the lights still dont come on. I as thikning by bypassing the dimmer the lights should still function. What else could be...

I am going to stick my neck out a little with this one although I agree with BoomerP. The clue of halogen bulbs is feeding my answer. Halogen bulbs require a high voltage transformer to operate and won't normally work with a dimmer but I never tried it. Bypassing the switch should bring them on though. If you have the proper voltage at the switch and they don't work with the switch bypassed, its probably a bad transformer in the fixture. Good Luck. Be careful.

How to replace a bulb for kd rangehood

This is for a smeg KD series, it depens on the model which lights are used.
LIGHTS REPLACEMENT:
Before performing any cleaning and/or
maintenance operation, disconnect the hood
from the mains supply.
According to the model, the hood can be equipped
with different kind of lighting such as incandescent,
halogen and neon lamps.
a) Incandescent lamps: E14 – 40W 230V lamps.
To replace them, remove the transparent fixture
from the control panel, unscrew the lamp and
screw in the new one.
b) Halogen lamps: G4, 20W - 12V lamps . To
replace the lamp, use a screwdriver to remove
the glass-supporting ring. Then remove the old
lamp and insert the new one.
Put the glass back, securing it with the ring.
c) Biax neon lamps: G23 11W lamp. Once the
fixture has been removed, remove the biax lamp
from its seat and support.
Put a new lamp in, performing the same
operations backwards.
d) Neon lamp: 15/18W neon tube. To reach the
neon tube, unscrew the glass framework screws.
Rotate the tube 90 degrees and remove the neon
lamp. Install the new neon tube and put the glass
framework back.

Hope this helps

I have a problem with my kitchen's recessed lighting. For some reason, the six bulbs will go out during the evening hours, then come back on. There is no pattern, with one, two, three or four of them out...

It sounds as if you may have higher wattage bulbs and/or the wrong type of bulb installed in the can fixtures than the recessed cans are rated for.

When the wattage of the bulbs is higher than the rating of the fixture, and/or the wrong bulbs are being used, the recessed can's thermal overload device will shut off the light, to prevent damage and a possible fire situation.

It is unlikely that you've got a faulty dimmer, since you state that not all of the lights go off at once, thus it can be narrowed down to each can and thus the thermal overload being the culprit.

I would suggest you look inside the recessed can light fixture and determine what the maximum wattage bulb you can use, (60, 75, 90 watts, etc.) and use the next lower wattage bulb instead. I also install only Halogen bulbs in recessed cans, (they have a flat lens vs. a rounded bulb lens area like PAR type bulbs). Halogen bulbs are also the most efficient incandesent bulb that provides the whitest light possible and directs more light (and thus heat) downward away from the recessed can.

I avoid using a standard light bulb or PAR type bulbs in any recessed can fixtures as they tend to heat up quite a bit and cause the thermal protection to trip frequently.

As a Master Electrician that has installed literally thousands of recessed fixtures and dimmers, I can say that my customers prefer the Halogen light over standard bulbs and they last longer too.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Apparent fixture problem for halogen plug

This dimmer was not made to dim a load smaller than 40VA. That halogen bulb would only have been 20VA or so.

I think that when your bulb burnt out, the dimmer over-volted the transformer and smoked it. That said, I think you have a fixture problem and, possibly, a switch problem, too.

Fog Light Replacement Hyundai Santa Fe

The above statement is GREAT!!! The wheel-well piece folds down across the area you need to be in. There are 2 screws to undo this part. Push it back and there is a cap that unscrews which holds the wires and socket he is talking about. Unscrew the cap, unscrew the wire and housing. The bulb comes out. You pull the wire harness off and install the new bulb. It has a triangular push-in and it has to go just right so take note of how it comes out. Also, being a halogen light bulb, do not touch the bulb with your hands - the oils will make it explode.
