I was supposed to get a 15% bonus from $20,469.00. I got a check for $1,538.92. What percentage is this? I know it isn't 15%, because only 10% would be $2,046. I want to be sure b4 I ask boss.

It is 7.5% of the original amount. Figure the percentage: divide the smaller number by the large number and you will get the percentage. 1538.92 divided by 20469.00=0.07518296 or 7.5%,

What is formula to find percentage of females in my workplace?

To get around this, you can calculate your numbers as percentages first. For example, if you type the formula =10/100 in cell A2, Excel will display the result as 0.1. If you then format that decimal as a percentage, the number will be displayed as 10%, as you 'd expect.Aug 2, 2011

How do I fine the percentage change from .41 to .50?

To find the percentage change, subtract the old number from the new number and divide by the old number. Then to make it a percentage, multiply by 100.

Example: 0.41 to 0.50.

.050 - 0.41 = 0.09

0.09 ---------
------ = 0.21951
.41

To make it into a percentage change, multiply by 100 or move the decimal to the right two places.
--------
21.95121%

p.s. The line over the numbers means that they repeat;)

Wha is a percentage number of another of another

Hmmm. Could you give more details? Are you wanting to find a percentage? If so, here's an example - 10% of 100 is 10.
Multiply 100 by .10 = 10.

So to find the percentage of a number, multiply the number in question by the decimal version of the percentage. 8% is .08, 15% is .15, etc.

I hope that helps!

Percentages in Excel

No problem, Melinda, I am here to help!

If I understood correctly, your spreadsheet looks something like this:
A B C D
1 Question Yes No Total
2 Is sky blue? 20 2 22
3 Is world round? etc.

In this case, the formula for % of Yes would be: =B2/D2. This would give you a decimal point result such as 0.909091. Now if you want to make this look like a percentage in your spreadsheet, just do the following:
1) click on the cell where you have the division formula
2) clck on Format in the top menu bar
3) click on Cells
4) click on the Number tab (if you're not already there)
5) click on Percentage in the list of categories
6) click OK

To boil it all down to a simple principle, percentages are created in Excel by dividing the two numbers using a formula with "/" in it, and then formatting the result to look like a percentage instead of a decimal.

I might have misunderstood your question, and I have an idea of what else you might have been asking (and another slightly more complicated solution for it!), so please let me know if my first answer didn't hit the mark!

Good Luck!
Regards,
RichMTech
