SOURCE: Generac Guardian 15kW Generator

That sounds just about right, if the relay contacts get welded together it sometimes takes out the driver on the printed circuit board. As you found out, 12vdc from 23 to 194 makes the transfer switch move to the Generator position, relay not energized makes the ATS move to the Normal position.

You can make a nice test function by installing a 10 amp contact switch in series with either the N1 or N2 terminals. When the switch is open the generator thinks the Normal power has failed.

Carl

Why doesn't my GE Symphony 20kw generator turn off after the power comes back on?

The transfer switch could be bad, worn internally, a manual switch, or a semi-automatic transfer switch. Check the transfer switch part numbers and google them to find out exactly what kind they are. In some places fully automatic transfer switches are not permitted in a residential environment.

HOW DO I install a 3 phase generater to an mcc to automatically change over to generater power in the event of a mains power failure?

You would need a three phase automatic transfer switch.

Your local electric company usually requires you the have these automatic transfer switches install by a license electrician.

How does a transfer switch for a manual generator work

A transfers switch function whether manual or automatic is to ensure the utilitya nd generator can never be connected at the same time. If you have a manual start generator, you should have a manual transfer switch installed. Throw the transfer switch to emergency position (which disconencts your home or loads from utility) start the generator and close the generator breaker. When power comes on reverse this procedure

I have a Taylor Perkins 150 KW generator on chicken houses. It will start on manual but not on automatic. Once started manually it won't transfer thru transfer switch.

Go the transfer switch and locate the 2 DC control wires that go to your generator for remote start.(On the remote start terminals) If you jumper these wires in the transfer switch and it starts, then the problem is with the transfer switch. If it still won't start check the wiring from the switch back to the generator, if all ok then suspect the generator control board. I would recommend you have an electrician do this, as there is line utility power in the switch and is dangerous !

I would check the shifting mechinizuns . If its manual _ cable opperated system have someone shift it see how it moves on the transfer case and how smooth the cable opperation is . The system is bascaly a vacuum opperated system after that but if it goes into 4 wheel then the system is working . The other place you could look is at the front transaxle adjustment _switch witch is a cable opperated system that is controled by a vacuum switch on the transfer case and an acuater under the battery tray to pull the cable with the froce of the vacuum from the transfer switch engine vacuum . If you have an electronic shift control inside the cab it still works basicaly the same way except you have another electrical switch to check. It dosn't sound like you have a big problem because the system works it goes into 4 wheel but you need to find out witch part or switch is sticking mechicaly or if its an electrical switch sending or not sending the correct signial to its compontets

It sounds like the mains sense wire is disconected from the control panel or the run wire is not being cut by the aux contact on the transfer switch.
Is the transfer switch manual or motorised?

If you are using a Manual transfer switch, then you should manually operate the system. Why don't you use the switch it came with? Why would you use a 200a manual transfer switch on a 17kw generator? The idea is to move your critical circuits into the transfer switch panel. Then it would operate in auto.

Changing transmissions

your best bet would be to locate a junk yard that has an automatic equipped truck that is complete and bargain for every thing to change your truck over ( they may even be willing to allow you to trade your manual parts in on the needed items to change yours over)

this is an extensive opperation as you will need to change your steering column ,your radiator , if your truck is equiped with electronic shift for the transfer case you will have to change all this out also you need to look at the throtle body to see if yours has the linkage for the automatic trans
tp cable to hook up to if not you will need to change this also

you will need to switch computers as you will need one programed for the automatic

I all way say its cheaper to trade your truck for one with an automatic

but I have changed quite a few over for people who just did not want to part with their truck lol

good luck David
