1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.

SOURCE: monitor goes black after a few seconds

I have the same problem on my Acer AL1711. The monitor was out of warranty so I opened it up and found one of the 1000 mf capacitor almost ready to pop. A 50 cents replacement from allelectronics.com fixed the problem.

Not recommended for anyone without experience soldering electronic components to PCB's.

SOURCE: SCREEN GOES BLACK AFTER A FEW SECONDS AFTER TURNING MONITOR ON.

More often then not, this is attributed to a failing Backlight Inverter. A Backlight Inverter, is a power board mounted below the screen that actually send power to the Lamp inside the LCD itself. Check to see, when it goes out if there isn't still some images faint in the screen. If this is the case take it to a local repair shop and have them order one and replace it. repair cost for this shuold be around 65-100 dollars.

If this helps, please rate my solution. Have a great day.

SOURCE: my monitor comes black every 5 seconds

Look at the power supply first; look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

SOURCE: The monitor flashes on and off. Black then a half

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Tip

How to adjust or change a monitor's refresh rate.

If you've ever used a CRT monitor, you know that fine-tuning your refresh rate is essential. The refresh rate of a display is measured in Hertz (abbreviated Hz) and specifies the number of times per second that a display is illuminated.<br /> <br /> Setting the refresh rate to 60 Hz - a common default value - tells the monitor to redraw itself 60 times per second. For most people, that setting on a CRT monitor is too slow, resulting in an annoying flicker that can cause headaches, eyestrain, and fatigue. Bumping the refresh rate to a higher number can reduce that flicker, as long as the monitor itself can handle the faster rate.<br /> <br /> If you're using an LCD monitor then a safe refresh rate lies in the 60Hz-75Hz range. A greater refresh rate when it comes to LCD's means greater performance.<br /><br /> <b><u>How to adjust the refresh rate</u></b><br /> Firstly you will need to right click on your desktop background and select <b>Properties</b>.<br /> <img src="slasher_x_72.JPG" /> <br /> This will display the <b>Display Properties</b> window as show below.<br /> <img src="slasher_x_73.jpg" /> <br /> You will need to click the <b>Settings</b> tab.<br /> <img src="slasher_x_74.JPG" /> <br /> Once in the <b>Settings</b> tab you will need to click on the <b>Advanced</b> button.<br /> <img src="slasher_x_75.JPG" /> <br /> Then click on the <b>Monitor</b> tab.<br /> <img src="slasher_x_76.JPG" /> <br /> Here you can change the screen's refresh rate. Make sure the box next to <b>Hide modes that this monitor cannot display</b> is ticked. After you have selected the refresh rate you wish click <b>OK</b>. It would be a very good idea if you have the user's manual for the monitor handy just so that you can see what the manufacturer suggests the refresh rate should be set to.

Monitor flashes on websites

if problem persist when opening multiple tabs, your RAM (random access memory) might be failing or is cluttered by a virus or program. If there is not enough memory available, the screen will go crazy or have a hard time coming on. Next you can check your video card if its not an integrated one. You may need to use a cheap used card to make sure that it is not a video card problem.

Up on your F KEYS is a SYMBOL that looks like a small TV Monitor... HOLD DOWN THE FN (function) key and tap the F key with the monitor.

1. On one click the screen on the computer will go black and you will see the screen now on the TV,

2. On a second click the computer monitor will come back on, and you will also have the TV screen.

4. On a third click you will kill the TV display and end up where you started, with the display on the Computer Monitor only..

Kindly,

Flashes on then goes black

The green light only lets you know there is a valid video signal reaching the monitor. If the green light was not "on" your problems would possibly be within the pc itself. Something is not holding the circuit for the backlight "on" thus going black. Suggestions are: 1. Take it to get it repaired (if not under warranty) Hyundai carries a 3 yr warranty on this monitor. Website provided. 2. Buy a new monitor http://www.hyundaiq.com/Eng/Customer/CusSvc/Csvc.asp
