11.5.4 MAINTENANCE COUNT.
A. Use
• To display the count of the maintenance counter.
• When the counter reaches "0", maintenance call M1 or the service call will appear, according to the setting on MAINTENANCE COUNT. of SERVICE'S CHOISE.

• To enter an appropriate counter value (0 to 999999) as the tentative maintenance time.
• Specify the setting on maintenance counter to "1" or "2": If the maintenance life is
reached, the maintenance call (M1) or service call [Call Service (M1)] will appear.
"0" : Not counted
1 : Counted (The maintenance call display is given when the counter reaches 0.)
2 : Counted (The service call display is given and the initiation of any new copy cycle
is inhibited when the counter reaches 0.)
NOTE
• The counter value is decremented until it reaches -999999 even after it has
counted 0.
B. Procedure
• The default setting is 0.
• When "1" or "2" is selected, a screen will then appear to allow the counter value to be
entered.






• To clear the count, use [CLEAR DATA] of the SERVICE MODE.

Clearing the Maintenance Count and Service Message: HP LaserJets
If the display panel on your HP LaserJet reads "Perform Printer Maintenance", "Perform User Maintenance", "Maintenance Kit Low", "Maintenance Kit Very Low", or anything along those lines it means your printer needs a preventative maintenance kit, which includes a fuser and various rollers. Once you have installed the maintenance kit the message will only go away if you clear the maintenance count.

When you are in ready state, type 10871087 to enter the maintenance mode. Then type 251 to go in the section where clean the MK counter. (U251 Checking/clearing the maintenance count). Press Start to reset (if I remember correctly , you will need to type a new counter (000000), not just to clear the old one). After reset, you press Stop key to exit the submenu. 2. Pressing Select resets the maintenance page counter to zero.

After printing 215,000 pages, the MFP alerts you to order a maintenance kit. The message can be

5 The MFP completes its initialization sequence. The maintenance-kit counter is automatically reset.
