when trying to log in on your hone, use the need new password option, u may have a setting on ur phone that makes siging in from less secure apps harder , but getting a new password thru your phone should work
Go to login and nearby where they request you to enter you password there should be a link i.e..."forgot my password?". Click it. It should ask for an email address and then click submit. The system should send you an email with a new temporary password to login with. Once you have logged in...go to your account and enter a new password.
Because you posted this under the HTC Droid Incredible, I assume you're attempting to change your password on the phone.
You may find it easier to recover your Google password using their website on a computer.
Open your browser and navigate to https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery. This site will guide you through resetting your password.
Once you have reset it, use your new password to log in on your phone.
To reset your forgotten Gmail password: Make sure you either -have a secondary email address specified for your Gmail account or you have not logged into your Gmail account for 5 days. Follow the I cannot access my account link from the Gmail log-in page.
Click I've forgotten my password.
Type your Gmail user name (what precedes "@gmail.com" in your Gmail address) under Username:.
Type the letters in the captcha into the field beneath the image.
Depending on whether you have a secondary email address specified or not,
open the Google Password Assistance message in your secondary email account and follow the password reset link in it or
type the answer to your security question and click Submit.
Enter the desired new password under both New password: and Re-enter password.

Restart the computer. Immediately after the screen goes blank for the
first time, or after the BIOS post ends, start taping the F8 key
repeatedly. The Windows Advanced Options menu should appear. If the menu does
not appear, restart the computer and try again. If the Keyboard has a F-Lock key, you may need to press it first right before pressing the F8 Key. This will have to be done fast before tapping the F8 key repeatedly. Once you are logged in under safe mode, you should be able to create a new user. Do that. Then restart again and let it boot up normally. Log on under the new user.
Those steps will get you onto the computer. As far as retrieving a lost password goes. I'm not sure that you can do it.
