Question about KitchenAid Refrigerators
The water filter will not fill up with water anymore. We had a technician out a couple years ago who fixed the compressor. He also replaced our filter with one we owned. 6 months later I replace the filter to discover the one installed had not filtered any water. I used the new one for another 6 months and the same thing happened. It was completely clean, had not filtered any water. When I turn these filters in now, it is not easy like it used to be, and how the videos show to be. I have about 5 brand new filters and have tried all of them. None will work, all are hard to turn, they grind the plastic down. I read they changed some of tip of the plastic on the filters but they are the correct ones, and will work. I bought a new housing this summer, thinking the technician changed it out and replaced the wrong one. I was assured by Sears Parts Direct, that the housing and these filters go together and my problem would be solved. It is not solved. I still don't have filtered water. The original tech is no longer available. I had another tech come out and install one of the filters when he was here to repair the oven. But that didn't work either.

Check the following:
Is the freezer door closed completely?
Is the ice storage bin installed correctly?
Is there ice in the storage bin?
Has the ice frozen in the storage bin?
Is ice stuck in the delivery chute?
Has the wrong ice been added to the storage bin? Use only
cubes produced by the current ice maker.
Has the ice melted around the auger (metal spiral) in the
ice bucket? Dump the ice cubes and clean the ice storage
Is the ice dispenser stalling while dispensing “crushed”
ice? Change the ice button from “crushed” to “cubed.” If
cubed ice dispenses correctly, depress the button for
“crushed” ice and begin dispensing again.
Has the dispenser arm been held in too long? Ice will stop
dispensing when the arm is held in too long. Wait 3 minutes
for dispenser motor to reset before using again.
The ON/OFF switch is located on the top right side of the freezer
To turn the ice maker on, slide the control to the ON (left) position.
To manually turn the ice maker off, slide the control to the OFF
NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker
sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will
remain in the ON (left) position
Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the
first three batches of ice produced.
The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the
water supplied to your ice maker. Avoid connecting the ice
maker to a softened water supply. Water softener chemicals
(such as salt) can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to
poor quality ice. If a softened water supply cannot be avoided,
make sure the water softener is operating properly and is well
The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
dispenser levers. The ice and water dispensers will not work.
Style 1: Press the LOCK BUTTON to lock the dispenser. Press the
UNLOCK button to unlock the dispenser.
Style 2: Press and hold the LOCK OUT button to lock the
dispenser. Press and hold the LOCK OUT button a second time to
unlock the dispenser.

Hi there, I noticed the same condition when I left the filter in ours a little too long. The optimal performance from the filter is achieved (I have found) when you change it after 3 months. This is about the same amount of time it takes for the light to change from green to red on the filter light.
Hope this helps. ~Steve

the seal on the filter cover- is it cracked, pinched, broken or missing? if so, get a new seal. if it's leaking from the tubes going to it, tighten them with a crescent wrench.

Tips for a great answer:
Oct 14, 2014 | Water Heaters
water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there
is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What
is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch
must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the
motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be
good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn
around to inject with pressure. If so
the pump must be checked for clogging.
