No. According to the list of tech specs it should have built in digital tuners for both DVB-C (MPEG2) DVB-T (MPEG2)

What input mode do you have it in? Example: TV, AV1or2, S-VIDEO HDMI etc. I assume you have checked to see all your hookups are fastened properly.

I put it on digital TV and antenna over cable mode, the channels went to 2-0 and blue screen. I checked to make sure everything seems to be connected good. I take the antenna and stand outside with it, does the antenna need to be out for a time before hand to get signal?

Once hooked up the antenna either gets a signal or it doesn't. Are you using just a plain set of rabbit ears (like the cheap ones they give with the TV) or a purchased antenna (which usually have a built in booster)? If it is an aftermarket (purchased) antenna with a base that boosts I would place the antenna where you want to leave it (when working) and point both antennae straight up, then do a channel search. After the channel search any channels you might be able to pick up should either have a bit of picture or maybe just white noise (black and white fuzz) from there you can move the antennae to fine tune for your channels.

Hi, I purchaed the antenna, it is an outdoor one that supposidly gets signal up to 200 miles away and say sit gets both UHF/VHF channels. Thank you for the tips, I will try them this weekend and see if I can get it to work. Thanks again.

That set has both digital and analog capabilities, so no you dont need to get a converter box.

SOURCE: No digital reception with HD ready TV.

Someone did not explain to you what HDTV "Ready" means. It means you do not have a ATSC tuner in it to except over the air digital signal. The only way you will get digital reception is either from a HD Cable box with RGB outputs that plug into your RGB inputs, or being on Satellite connecting the same way. Seven years ago manufacturers never made it easy to understand and Salesmen only made it worse. So in short the term HDTV Ready meant it can, with a BOX.

Do I need a digital convertor box to get the DTV signals or just the antenna?

You will need a digital-to-analog converter box and an antenna. The TV only has an NTSC (analog) tuner.

I hope this helps.

Does my Insignia come digital cable ready or do I need a convertor box?

Cablevision is forcing people to having to buy Digital Cable Boxes with decoders in them.. On top of what you are already paying you have to pay lets say 2- 6$ per tv for a box per month.  Cablevision is doing this and charging more.  It's really to bad.

I don't know if my sony trinitron kv-2742 27" tv needs a box

Given the history of the aquirement, I checked the model number and there is no reference to be able to receive digital. You can buy a convertor box anytime they are available to use on the set. There is no deadline to hook it up.

if the tv has a cable ready hook up then it can produce digital the trick is if your tv have satellite or a cable service then you don't need the convertor box but if you don't have none of these services then you will need a convertor box and if you have service provider and the service gets cancelled then you will need the convertor box
