Re: How to uninstall deep freeze v6?
I believe DF5Serv.exe is running as a service. It also appears that it resists attempts to remove it.
I'm going to give you a couple of ways to remove this.
- Boot the computer, pressing [F8] as the initial Windows splash screen appears. From the ensuing menu choose "Safe Mode - command prompt only"
- Once booted and logged in, type "sc delete DF5Serv" and press enter.
- The command should echo back a number of lines. The one labeled "STATE" should tell you if the remove worked.
- If the message above indicates that the service didn't uninstall, type "msconfig" and press enter. (You may need to type "\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig")
- Here you can either click "Diagnostic Startup", or go to the \Services\ Tab and unselect "DF5Serv" from the services list. Click [OK].
- Allow msconfig to restart the computer and, once logged in - search for DF5Serv.exe and delete it.
- You will need to 'clean up' the mess by undoing the changes in msconfig and manually editting the registry (at your own risk!) to remove any keys referencing DF5Serv.
I hope this helps. Good Luck!
