Got this new the other day. Setting it up, I am unable to get messenger to use the webcam. Lenovo EasyCapture uses the camera, so i know it works. the device driver is the most current version. But in Windows messenger. i got to Tools, audio and video setup, and it gives a message of "unable to open audio / video setup." So I can't do anything. i am unable to use the webcam with Windows messenger. If I can't figure this out, it will be going back...

Based on your situation. I suggest trying the following steps:
The image in your Webcam Uploader window might be inverted because of your camera setting.
To change the setting: 1. Click Messenger and select "My Webcam." 2. In the window that opens, click the "File" menu, select "Preferences," and choose "Webcam". 3. Click the "Camera Settings" button. 4. There is usually a checkbox for "Invert Image" or "Mirror Vertical." Un-check this box if one exists. If you can't find this checkbox, try searching the other tabs.
For yahoo messenger
1. Log on to yahoo messenger then go in preferrence. 2. Then webcam select webcam setting & then deselect the IMAGE FLIP. 3. Now save the setting.
I have a toshiba satellite too. I had the same problem when i had just
bought my laptop. It seems like it is a software or driver problem,
nothing wrong with the hardware. Do this once or twice and this problem
wont reoccur, it hasn't for me again. Go to device manager and disable
the webcam, restart the computer then go back and enable it. Now the
webcam will for fine with all instant messengers. I remember donig this
few times when my laptop was new. Now its been over a year and this
problem hasnot occured again. I hope this helps you too or your friend.
