Go to searspartsdirect.com and enter the model number 917.270613 on the right side of the page. This take you to a complete list of illustrations for your mower. Select electrical section and the fuse is #26 on the diagram. However, an engine not turning over can be the result of different problems such as a bad battery, ignition switch, solinoid (can you cross over the solinoid with a screwdriver to start the engine?), safety switch not working properly or even corrosion on the battery cables.

SOURCE: i have a craftsman 42" rider model #917 259572

You will need the ignition coil replaced on your mower. It is a simple fix to do. If you could give the make and model number that is located on the side of the engine I will be able to direct you to the part you need.

Regards, Richard

What is the compression lbs for a 18 hp brigg/stratton intek engine

Not sure where to get compression pounds for this, but let me refer you to the Briggs website for detailed product specs and power curves.
Intek can be twin or single sylinder.

For Twin....
http://www.briggsandstratton.com/us/en/engines/rider-mower-engines/intek-series-v-twin

For single....the are in 1/2 HP ratings but the link is below....
http://www.briggsandstratton.com/us/en/engines/rider-mower-engines/intek-with-xrd-single-cylinder

If further detail is required, I will need the model type and trim found on the valve cover.

Where is the fuse located in Model#917274640

It located inside the operator station. I usually find on the right most times but this can vary.

Most time when an engine won't start it is either the solenoid or a safety that is that problem.

Craftsman LT1000 Wont crank over.

This is not always the case but on Briggs and Stratton it may be time to check the valves for adjusting. Take off the cover and check for a gap of .005 . If the exaust valve is loose it will not allow the engine to relieve combustion to start. In other words the engine stays under load of compression and can't turn. In my shop I see this all the time . If all electrical checks out try this next

were you mowing at the time? if you didn't disengage the blades, the engine will not start, everything will seem "dead". if that's not it, check for a blown fuse

Replacement part for Craftsman 650 Briggs & Stratton 22" multi cut mower Model #917.376741

You first need to locate the model number on the mower, not the Briggs engine. Then go to searspartsdirect.com and enter your model number on the right side of the web page. This will take you to a list of parts for your mower. Your model number should be located on the deck of the mower (you didn't say if it was a rider or a push). Rider model numbers are located on the rear of the body behind, on or under the seat. Push model numbers are found on the back of the deck between where the handles attach to the frame.
