Question about ViewSonic VA1912wb Monitor

1 Answer

OSD stays on

The OSD screen became a permanent fixture in my monitor.  The buttons won't work; even the power button.  I changed my video cards and still the same.  I tried using DVI and analog cables but still no effect.  I also try to power off from the power cable and OSD did not budge.

This function allows you to lock the current control settings, so that they cannot be inadvertently changed. Press and hold the MENU button for several seconds. The message "OSD LOCKED" should appear. You can unlock the OSD controls at any time by pushing the MENU button for several seconds. The message "OSD UNLOCKED" should appear.

When i press the power button to turn off monitor, i get a power button lockout message. how do i unlock the power button

I did not see anything regarding to the Power locked out function, may be it's time to call HP. Please post back what you find out from HP.
I look at HP WEBSITE:

Locking OSD settings
When the OSD is locked, settings cannot be changed in the OSD menu. The OSD functionality is enabled or disabled by pressing the Menu button and holding it for 10 seconds. Upon disabling the OSD, an OSD Lock-out message is displayed for 10 seconds. When the OSD is locked and an OSD menu button is pressed, the OSD Lock-out message is displayed for an additional 10 seconds. When the OSD is locked, pressing the OSD menu button for 10 seconds unlocks the OSD and displays the main menu. Identifying monitor conditions
Special messages display on the monitor screen for the following monitor conditions:
  • Input Signal Out of Range : Indicates the monitor does not support the input signal because the resolution and/or refresh rate are set higher than the monitor supports. Recommended refresh rates are as follows:
    • For the w1858 monitor: 1366 x 768 @ 60 Hz.
    • For the w2338h monitor: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz.
  • Monitor Going to Sleep : Indicates the screen display is entering a sleep mode.
  • Check Video Cable : Indicates a video input cable is not properly connected to the computer or monitor.
  • OSD Lock-out : When the OSD is locked, the warning message OSD Lock displays for 10 seconds.
  • No Input Signal : Indicates the monitor is not receiving a video signal from the computer on the monitor video input connector. Check whether the computer or input signal source is off or in the power-save mode.
  • Auto Adjustment in Progress : Indicates the auto-adjustment function is active and in process.

Its aproblem of command section.Check its components one by can identify this section (the front panal buttons goes in this section and a ic in big size and pasted horizantally in the circuit).if the components are ok then change command ic with new one. This will solve your problem.

OSD screen lock

The OSD is controlled by the video card board (logic board)
It is information stored on the eprom, not something you can just get to. It has to be programmed.

To gain access to the OSD Service Menu from a user service point you normally access it via a series of buttons on the control panel. Holding several buttons at once in a set combination that is particular to that brand, or even that individual series of monitor.

OSD just means "On Screen Display" the menu system and the service menu are the OSD.

OSD doesn't appear

You will find the number one motto from many of the Tech's is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!" If you must fix it try the latest drivers for your video card and for the monitor. The OS(XP) is always changing. Keep the drivers up to date. Otherwise. Don't mess with it. Good Luck, Let me know what happens. Tim
