Question about Goodman CKL60AR60 Air Conditioner

We got an a/c central unit goodman modle ckl60-1 and a month a go it broke and the technician said that it needed a new capacitor and freon and about a week ago the unit broke again and the technician said that it had 2 cables (red and black) that were connected to the compressor that were burned. He fixed it and a week later it began to malfunction again and now it turns on but turns off the compressor but the fan still works giving off hot air during the hotest part of the day and it only works in a pattern time without programation (works without problem from 8:00 pm to 12:pm). The cables have been burned for the second time and they have been repaired once more. We're not sure what is the problem so that we are able to fix it. What is it that we need to fix? (Compressor, Wires, Capacitor, or is there anything else) and why just wok fine at night?

It sounds like you may have a restriction in the refrigerant circuit. If you have a restriction and a tech. thinks its just low on refrigerant. He will charge the unit to try to bring the suction psi up causing liquid refrigerant to fill the condenser and liquid slug the compressor. this will cause the compressor to over amp and overheat. IT will also cause the unit to shut off on high head psi if it has that safety. the unit could run at night when the ambient temp is lower outside because it is not picking up as much heat as during the day. a in properly operating expansion valve will cause the same thing. good luck hope this helps. the burnt compressor leads is due to high amp draw or bad connection usually.

When a compressor is has to start. 1. HAs it been off longer than five minutes. As a service tech when I run on to this problem I install a hard start kit and a time delay. The start kit helps the compressor to start under heavy load condtions. The timer helps the compressor to balance out before tryng to start. Have tech set at 5 minutes. I install hard start kits and time delays on all my change outs. Replace problem will go away. Thanks Rus

Condencer runs for 20 sec then off keeps repeting after 2 or 3 min goodman central system

Seems like it trying to start and then cuts out , possibly on overload. Try the machine on fan blow only , that will check the indoor unit to see if that is working. Then try cool or heat function while listening to the machine starting. If you hear a loud humming just as the fan starts, and then it cuts out, It could be a compressor issue. Possibly the start capacitor has failed.

When i turn my central air on the fan not running so do the motor and i don't know why. i have this goodman central air for four year now.

I had the same problem with the fan not running and the compressor hard starsting. It turned ouot to be just needing a new capacitor. I also bought a "hard start" unit to hook to the new capacitor to ease the burden of the starting in case there is low voltage to the unit during high usage times. The very first thing I would check would be the capacitor. Don't fool with this yourself unless you first discharge the capacitor, as this is very dangerous unless discharged first.

My central air keeps running and won't turn off. and its not cooling my apartment

Hello
There are two common possibilites.
1 unit is low on freon and needs a charge.
2 thermostat is bad, or not on auto position if thats available.

Hi i have a rheem central air unit. The outside unit does not want to turn on. i just recharged it with freon about a month ago so it cant be that

Check the circuit breaker(s) for the outdoor unit. Then set the thermostat to make the unit come on and see if the contactor pulls in. If it doesn't turn the fan switch from auto to on and see if the indoor fan comes on. If not your transformer could be shot. If the contactor pulled in on the outside unit check the capacitor for the fan and compressor.

Goodman central air unit fan not working

There are a variety of factors that may cause your A/C to not cool your house. When the AC is clogged with accumulated dust, lint and other debris, don't be surprised that it could cause your A/C to blow hot air; then again, it could also be a bad capacitor, as you have alluded; in fact, in all likelihood, it is the capacitor if the fan is not working on the outside A/C unit.. With that said, here is a diagnostic article that provides these and other most probable causes of your A/C's failure to cool your house, and from there you can read it and then, step by step, rule out each possible cause listed in the article:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Central_Air_Conditioning.htm

Read the article, and, if I were you, I'd take advantage of the link for free four (4) quotes and "pick the brain"--seek the advice--of these technicians who offer you a free quote to discern what could be the problem; there's no obligation to get the quote since it is free--get three estimates if you can. Plus, if it is the capacitor, such a replacement is very costly--you might get a better deal from the technician since the technician usually has access to wholesale pricing when he buys his materials--but that's just my thought. Good luck!

Goodman central unit not functioning

You may be putting the incorrect transformer in. Try to get a OEM from your local HVAC dealer. Which capacitor are you referring to?
