Question about Ryobi 15" Electric Factory Reconditioned Trimmer (ZRRY41002) - Factory Reconditioned

1 Answer

Ss30 won't idle after starting

Will run with choke full on. dies immediately when switch to "run". If you hold the throtle down it will run, but will die immediately when you let off on the throtle.

This was used two summers ago and it worked fine. Now it won't work. Replaced spark plug and fuel.

    Thanks!

Do I just go to my closest autoparts store and buy that kind of carb cleaner?

What is the likely problem? If I understand the what or why of this problem it will be easier to do, I think.

Hi Steve,

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.

(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit and replace all appropriate parts.)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

    Thanks for the rating Steve.

Yes, you can get the carb. cleaner their, or most any department store. (If you end up buying a carb. kit, you can find this at an outdoor power and equipment type of store.) But you should try to do the cleaning first, it will save you approximately $20 if the cleaning works; and it usually does.

Carburetors some times get dirt particles in them, causing them to run poorly, or not at all. In your case, it has sat too long with the same gas in it. It definately needs cleaned.

If you should have any questions about
"Drywall Finishing/Patching", or know someone who does, put your
questions to Category:"Tools- Building & Power- HAND TOOLS" at

    Thanks Again,

    Jim

Chokes and Dies when cutting

Adjust the choke or carburetor. In case your chainsaw stalls when the engine is idling, ensure that the choke is set properly. To do so, first try releasing it to adjust it, and then move the plate and tighten all screws once again. To loosen any grit, spray carburetor cleaner spray on the choke's shaft. The carburetor may also need to be adjusted; consult your owner's manual which will guide you on resetting the idle mix screw.

Fuel starvation, start by replacing the fuel filter in the tank, check the fuel hoses for leaks up to the carb.

I have a 05' Yamaha 650 V Star and it will only run if the choke is fully out, hot or cold engine. If the choke is pushed in, it immediately dies.

Has the bike been parked for two weeks or more? If so, the fuel has most likely gummed up and plugged fuel passages and jets. Might try adding 1/2 to full can of SeaFoam to existing fuel in the tank, crank the bike and run (with choke if you have to) at a high idle for several minutes. Shut it down and let set for an hour or so allowing the SeaFoam to work. Start bike again and run at high idle again, trying to run it without the choke. If this doesn't work, then the carb probablyneeds a tear down and a manuel cleaning and reset.

Poulan bv200. will not throtle up. it starts with choke at1/2 and throtle at 1/2. new spark plug and clean air filter. when i try to zero choke it dies. and at full throtle it will not get to full speed...

The unit is lean. rebuild the carb with a carb kit and check your fuel lines. If they are brown or discolored or brittle they need to be replaced. carb kits run approx. 11 - 18 dollars from your local dealer.

SACHS XTC TWO STROKE DIES AS SOON AS THROTLE IS TOUCHED

A cold engine needs more fuel to run. The choke helps this by blocking the normal air flow.If you can get your hand over the carb intake try one finger at the time untill it will warm up. If it will just idle let it idle till it gets warm. The choke is so you can hope on and ride right away.

Last time I STARTED MY VSTAR 1100 I CHOKED IT FOR 10 SECONDS ON HIGH THEN MOVED TO MEDIUM CHOKE FOR 4 THEN TOOK OFF AT NO CHOKE. 2 WEEKS LATER. I started up bike Choke on high bike barely wanted to idle...

Sounds like your flooding it out with the choke out. Try the next time you go to start the bike when it's cold with the choke out and when it starts push the choke all the way in and keep it running with the throtle. If it runs better after doing this then your flooding it on start up. Use 1/2 choke to start cold and see what it does. Good Luck

You need to rebuild the carburetor. You will need to go to an outdoor power & equipment store of some kind to get a carburetor kit for your specific trimmer. It will come with various gaskets, (some of which you won't use), a needle valve, and a small screen that goes in the carb. Replace all old parts with new. New primer bulb is sold seperately. When you have the carb. apart, you will also need to clean the small ports with a Den Tek Brush (used for cleaning teeth). Use carb. cleaner when cleaning.
