Question about Cobra Radio Communications
I have an issue with one of the 2 way radios. I can talk out of the radio but can't hear anyone talk back. When I turn on it first says 18 and then it would usually change to the current channel but is doesn't it displays the 1 ehre part of the 8 in 18 is but still displays 18. Also I put new batteries in and it keeps flashing battery low, I put the same batteries in another of the same make and it works without any problems
Is there any overheating???...can you disasemble it???..please tell me these infos and I will come back to you...!!!

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

There could be three (3) reasons why the display shows the battery icon at the top left side of the LCD display:
1. weak/undercharge/discharge batteries;
2. dirty/corroded/loose battery contacts/terminals; and/or
3. internal fault with the electronic sensing for battery level/state.
Corrective measures would require:
a. replace/recharge batteries. The rechargeable batteries need at least 12 hours of charging time;
b. clean, scrape, tighten (need to bend a little more towards the battery terminals) the spring/contacts of the battery holder;
c. (on the internal fault) your best bet might be to seek the services of a professional electronic technician since this would need familiarity with electronic components, their circuitry and diagnosis, perhaps a bit of soldering and the use of a DVM.
On the other hand, if the "low" is the "L" icon at the bottom right side of the display, this would indicate that the radio's transmit power setting (H/L - high/low). Transmit power level can only be changed in Channels 1-7 & 15-22. The radio will also auto change to lo power when batteries are weak.To switch to high power, press on the Menu button thrice or till "Pr" icon shows, press on the up/down to select H or L. To save & exit, momentary press the PTT.
Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.

One of the main causes of static can be a bad battery. If you are using rechargeable batteries you need to replace them every 14-18 months. If you are using alkaline batteries, they have been known not to fully power the radio once your cross the 10 hour mark. Your radio would then be operating in somewhat of a brown out. This would lead to static.
Another cause of static is simply being nearly out of range of the other radio(s).
The burst of white noise at the end of Rx on some radios can be rather annoying. On the basic talkabout radios there is nothing which can be done to solve the problem, other than replacing the radio.

Hi it sounds to me that you have a fault in the microphone or the cable to the unit.check all the connections wiggle the mic cable and note any changes.
You say the mike button is frozen? try adrop of CRC in the press to talk switch-- only a drop or two, dont want it getting into the microphone it self.
Oh and have you got the batteries in the right way?

Here is a link to the EM1000 series user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/EM1000%20User%20Guide%2001-11-08.pdf
Check your frequency, code and Qt filter (if any) settings. For basic operations set the code and Qt filters to zero (off). Turn off any special features, and try the radios in just a basic mode.

In short channels 1-7 and channels 15-22 are GMRS channels are not supposed to be operated by anyone that does not have a GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) license issued by the FCC. They automatically run on high power. Channels 8-14 are FRS (Family radio Service) and can be used by anyone and are set to run on Low Power. The power is not adjustable with this radio. So now for the manual. Uniden made this radio for Radio Shack. So this manual is for the same radio only with the actual Uniden name. Same exact physical radio same exact manual. http://www.uniden.com/pdf/GMR1038-2om.pdf
