Question about Scag STWC48V-25CV Wildcat Zero-Turn Rider

1 Answer

Won't start I was mowing and started to get off to pick up debris. Even with the blades off and the brake set the mower died. I let it sit for a while and it cranked up. Got off again and it did the same thing. Now it won't crank at all, just clicks when I turn the key. I checked all of the wiring, but everything seems to be in tact. I don't imagine it's the battery since the mower did initially crank and ran for over an hour. Please help.

The click means the starter solenoid is acting. Most starters are like GM autos where this solenoid is on the starter. Often heat adversely effects these parts. Try tapping the solenoid and try to start it. If that works then a rebuild is indicated.

Why does my toro model 74301 keeps dieing

There are many reason a lawn mower dies in gear. Buildup of grass on the underside of the deck, mowing in too deep or thick lawn causing too much load on the blade, or the air filter needs cleaning.

My 155c John Deere will not start! Brand new charged battery....I turn the key...nothing(no clicking either). When bypassing it to cellinoid, it starts right up. When I shut off the mower, I have to...

Usually when the key is turned to start position the starter soleniod engages thus applying power to the starter. There are three possible causes to your problem . (1) Check for 12vdc at the terminal on the soleniod when the key is turned to start position, if there is 12vdc at the terminal then the key switch is good. (2) loose or bad cable connection at the soleniod, check connections. (3) bad soleniod -- replace it. generally you will hear a click from the soleniod when the key is turned to start position. Also be sure to check that ALL safety switches are engaged. You may need someone to sit in the drivers seat so that switch will be "made" / engaged. Park Brake is set, mowing blades are "NOT " being engaged, on some mowers if the transmission is in reverse ,even tho the brake is set the mower will not start.

My 50" troy bilt zero

All riding mowers have a seat safety, blade engage safety and a brake clutch safety, some mowers have a reverse mowing safety. Seat under the seat, blade and brake you will have to check the linkages underneath, and if there is a reverse mowing one I have seen them near the shifter handle right under the fender.

WILL NOT START craftman LT1000 YR.2000

most likely the blades are still in the on position, but you have a seat switch, parking brake switch, and the blade switch, also the mow in reverse key switch. if mower dies once you let out the clutch in reverse with blades on and key wrong.

Once engaged and start mowing, you can mow for about 20 feet or more and then it just slows down and the engine wants to die, but stop pulling immediately and the engine catches up and goes back to full...

This actually happened to a friend of mine! I saw it! Mow about 20 feet, and had to stop, then 20 feet...well, you get the picture. It was his air filter! Stopped up pretty good. We blew it out and it worked fine.
I really hope this helps. --W/D--

Mower stalls out after about an hour of run time

A few possibilities

1. If engine runs hotter than normal it can eventually heat up the carburetor to the point that there is a vapor lock. Blockage caused by gas bubble: a bubble of vaporized gasoline that blocks the normal flow of fuel. Problem goes away when things cool down. If that is the problem, you need to solve overheating problem. Since you have changed the oil, might be something blocking airflow to the flywheel which has the cooling blades on it. Or cooling blades are filled with debris. Make sure vent hole in gas cap is not blocked

2. Could be bad coil, or condenser causing the windings to act up when they are hot and have expanded they short out (kill engine) on their own casing. After they coil and shrink, they un-short themselves.

Mower starts, but when I let off clutch, it dies.

Grass and debris clogg the switch mechinisms, safety interlocks are sometimes a pain to diagnose but I would first look at the seat interlock, the petal switch and ffinally then the mowing deck.
