Question about Galaxy Radios DX-44HP Mobile Amateur Radio
Dead key only on AM,meter goes to 20+ ,FM works,PA speaker works,RX works , no audio on test radio just signal strenth.
Have you tried another mic. First guess microphone wire broke or broke solder for audio wire in mic jack at mic cord.

it could be a number of things and is a little tricky to fix without the right equipment!! You could try by replacing AM MOD AMP. which are TR 49, TR 50, & TR 51 Try that and your AM modulation should come back!! Let us know

Check the receive wire on the plug end of the mike, and the receive wire inside of the mike, just a starting point. ..hope this was helpful.....

Sounds like a heat sensitive problem to me. See the above listed problem and solution. Also the heat could be coming from over heating even from a high SWR as suggested.

is it acting like its keying up fulll power and no modulation or very very low modulation.. its prob has a shorted "am regulator" .. the big transistor in the back corner by the power wire connector.
