Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I have a 60" Philips 9P6044 C104 rear projection tv. The color seems to be getting weak and the colors seem to blend together. We think we may need new bulbs, but we dont know how to change them out. Is it the bulbs, if so how do we change them, or is it something else?

Its actually the collant in the CRts that makes the picture appear dim with colors being faded and hard to focus. You can get the CRT coolant kit at the following link which contains the coolant for all three CRTs and the CD with instructions on how to replace the coolant.

The colors look very weak. The green is weaker than the blue. Red seems ok. I have a philips 60 inch rear projection. It almost looks like a haze. The colors are not crisp. .

The TV has coolant in the CRTs that after years of use get cloudy. you will need to have a shop replace the coolant in all three, it is pretty involved so its best to have a trained tech. do it.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

Barb..be sure you run a TV signal through the VCR first. And then a coaxial from the VCR to the TV. This is the easiest solution for now. And set the vcr to tv/video {channel your movie is on}hit record and hit tv/video and watch your tv for another movie!

The cooling fluid in the CRT's need to be replaced. This is a common issue with NAP projection TV's. The old fluid needs to be drained then the CRT faces cleaned then refill with new fluid.
