Loud clicking noise on my hp printer 4500

Every time we print something there is a loud clicking noise that is dreadful. It does not affect the printing but sounds like something is breaking. Any solutions or suggestions?

SOURCE: My fax machine stays on and I can't print

Hello,
Try this.. Go to start, devices and printers and you will have a few things listed in there that are related to your printer. Most likely it will say document writer, fax and your hp printer. Make sure that the check mark is on your printer, not your fax. This indicates what your default printer is. To change this, right click on your hp printer and select set as default printer. Once this is set try printing again. Let me know if this works, if not we will try step 2. Hope this helps!

ok first try restarting your printer, then try uninstalling the driver for your printer off your computer, restart your computer and printer and then reinstall your drive for the printer, see if you get a replacement for your printer or a refund

My HP PSC 4500 printer makes a loud knocking noise when first turned on which goes off after a few seconds and printer woorks okay

OfficeJet Printers have a "spittoon" in which a rubber pad is used to wipe the bottoms of the cartridges to maintain a clean jet nozzle area. To find this, the unit will go to it's home position, "bump" that side where the spittoon resides, to confirm it's home position, then wipe the cartridges before its ready for use. In other words: "That's a normal noise for this model of printer". It will happen every time you power it up or wake it from hibernation mode with a print job.

When I am printing, there is a loud noise. Like something is not rotating correctly. Everything prints good, but that noise is really loud. It seems to happen when it feeds paper.

Hello there,

If there is a loud and buzzing noise inside it, the encoder strip, or the one that guides teh cartridge must be dirty. this causes buzzing sounds and mis alignment.

another is the rollers having too much paper residue in it.

i would recommend for you to clean the rollers with a lint free cloth and some water (just to dampen it)

Please feel free to leave a testimonial if this works and please do not forget to click 4 thumbs.

Cheers!

HP Officejet 6210 will print but with terrible clicking noise

Ok this Sounds Crazy but it worked for me and its easy to try. Unplug the unit and pick it up and turn it side ways and gently shake it. Sometimes a small piece of plastic has broken loose and is interfering with the works and if you can dislodge it from its current location it will stop. Be careful not to hurt youself doing it. Also, I have one printer with a missing tooth on one of the gears and has been growling at me for a long time.
Best of Luck,

Loud grinding noice before starting to print

Mine makes a grinding noise when scanning or making copies. As long as everything is working, I just tolerate the noise in which the rest of the staff find amusing at first and then ignore it as I do.

Xerox phaser 4500 printer clicks while printing

The clicking noise is created by flat spots on the fuser rollers. The flat spots on the rollers create a ?chatter? in the fuser gear drive train. This noise does not affect the performance of the printer and does not affect print quality.

All new fusers are shipped with restraints that keep the rollers separated during storage. If the fusers sit without the restraints installed for a period of time, flat spots can develop on the rollers which can result in a ?thumping? noise and will create a ?clicking? noise in the fuser gear drive train.

If a printer sits idle for long periods of time, flat spots can develop. If Power Saver is disabled and the printer sits idle for long periods of time while powered on, the flat spots will develop at an accelerated rate.

If a printer or fuser is not going to be used for an extended period of time or will be placed in storage for future use, re-insert the fuser restraints. The fuser restraints can be in place and the fuser installed in the printer
