This camera has a 9mm lens, and while shooting, you can't zoom. For that you need a zoom lens. You can buy one from Samsung.
I checked the manual, and it also does not show how to zoom in on a picture when it is on the display. So I guess, you should view it on a computer, or tablet ant use the picture viewer on that device to zoom in.
Be aware you have a great camera and the result with a prime (one focal length) is superior to the results make with a zoom lens.
But if you don't like to move around, to farm the picture, a zoom lens can be convenient.
To determine if it is a faulty zoom, switch off and remove battery then reinsert battery try again then go into the camera menu and look for the item which says reset camera settings to default or similar. (sorry I don't have the menu to hand but if you can't find the option I will check for you) Do this and try again. If the zoom does not work then you have a faulty zoom and the camera will need to be dismantled to repair. I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I have a simular problem with my Sanyo. I know this sounds weird, but I have noticed if you shake the camera a little, the photo viewer comes back and pics can be taken. Also.. there is a spot that says 3x Digital zoom on the top of the camera, I also noticed if I put a little prssure on that spot with my fingers, the viewer comes back. I don't know if something might be loose, but thought maybe this information would help you.
does this model have the eye viewer also? if so check and make sure the switch is toggled to displayed and not for the eye viewer. look into the eye viewer and you should see your display. it is simple switch to toggle it to the display mode.
THE MOST LIKELY REASON FOR THIS COULD BE EITHER THE SHUTTER IS NOT OPENING(IN THIS CASE WHEN YOU HALF PRESS THE CLICK BUTTON YOU SEE SOME SORT OF SNOWY PICTURE )IF NOT THEN THE CCD HAS GONE FAULTY AND IN BOTH THE CASES THE HARDWARE NEEDS TO BE CHECKED THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT YOURSELF
