The ms6540 appears to be a MSI motherboard. Open up your favorite search engine and do a search for
'ms 6540 motherboard drivers'

No quotes. You can also do to MSI's homepage and search there. Since you didn't specify an OS, I don't know if they will have drivers for that particular motherboard, for your OS.

Reinstalled xp now I can't get on the internet. Network adapter did not install

Is your network adapter built onto the motherboard or is it a separate card?
If it is built in, with a little research, you can identify the model of the motherboard in the computer and download the latest drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. If it is a separate card, you can install the drivers again from the CD that came with the card or visit the card manufacturers website to download drivers there.

Network adapter driver

Did you try your Windows update? It may have a updated driver.
Next lets look in System Properties, click Hardware, than click Device Manager. At network adapters, if you see a Yellow ! or a red X, it's possible your On-Board Ethernet controller is bad. A cheep work- around would be to add a PCI network card. You can find one here: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=252202

This is your motherboard: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=KT4VL&class=mb
