Question about Fisher and Paykel DEGX1 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Fisher and Paykel dryer dries clothes on medium heat but shuts off repeatedly if I set it to normal dry setting.

Have to dry all clothing types on medium setting as the dryer keeps shutting off when I set it to Normal setting. The timer stops also. Had a repairman come to the home but seemed unsure of what the problem actually was so I never pursued the issue as it does work on the one setting.

SOURCE: my Fisher Paykel dryer DEGX2 WAS TAKING LONGER AND

Hi.

There is no reset circuit.

Parts that must be tested are high limit thermostat and timer board.
The timer board is replaced if it is visibly faulty, or if there is no problem elsewhere.
The high limit located near to the element is tested reading impedance with a multimeter set at Rx1. If there is no continuity , the thermostat must be replaced.

Before testing parts check the lint filter, and ensure that air ducts are clean.

Regards.

SOURCE: My Fisher Paykel dryer runs normally but does not

the coments above are typical but not for this brand of dryer. I am not a Service technician but Very Handy. You can access the service summary (or Diagnostic Mode) by:
1)Turn on power to unit
2)Press & hold down the Auto Dry button, while you momentarily press the Power button.
3)Press the Auto Dry UP button 3 times to read the "Last Fault Option". Different combinations of LEDs has a specific value(refer to the WIRING DIAGRAM located under the control panel)
***The entire dryer can be disassembled with only 6 Philips head screws. In my situation, I had the same issue listed above (No Heat). Start by making sure your ductwork exhaust has no blockage or kinks. Take a Shopvac and vacume every bit of lint up inside and out of the Dryer.
Turns out that my problem was nothing but a Manual Reset button located by the Heater Coil Box (Located lower front and right)
***This is an overload arrestor that tripped due to a build up of Lint!
The button clicks when it has been reset, then it works fine. Once again, make sure your Dryer is spotless before you close it up, (unless this is a part of your routine maintenance, haha).

My Fisher Paykel degx1 heats but doesn't run long enough to dry, clothes still damp. I set to extra dry, still no luck. Thermostat, and a couple other parts just recently replaced.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Clothes burnt?

Try turning down the heat setting on your dryer. This should help immensely. Dry these types of clothing on say "medium" setting and the heavier things on normal heat.
