SOURCE: Awning fixed to existing brick retaining wall

If I were you, I'd use the threaded rod imbedded about 100mm in the wall. Make sure you have at least 5 threads showing after you tighten down the nut on the threaded rod. That will help you decide on the length of the rod. Make sure you use epoxy to hold the threaded rod in place and everything will be fine. However, if a big enough wind comes by, the awning may come loose from your house. Have you thought about a retractable awning? It will roll up next to your house. You only have to unroll it and connect the legs in prepositioned holders. During a storm, you probably won't be outside anyways, better to have the awning rolled up for safety.

SOURCE: safetech triple jogging stroller awning

You can get some velcro and attach a piece of thick netting to extend a little further past the sunshade, kidof like a visor, My other triple had the netting as a removable extender, I think that it would work for the safetech also.. :) Hope this helps.

Awning wont operate

If it's electric, you should verify you have power first. If not, check the support arms. Loosen the adjustment bolts a little and check for rust or bent areas on the support arms. If the arms look fine, then it could be a problem with the spring inside the awning. I'd suggest taking it to a shop for that.

    Instructions for operating rv awning

Manual or electric. If electric press the switch located inside the unit. If manual, you will need to go to each arm and press the release clips to unlock the arms (usually black but may be a lift up lock). Next tank the long rod with a loop on one end and a 90 deg hook on the other. Toward the front of the coach at the top of the awning you will see a small lever on the awning. Use the loop end of the rod to pull the lever down. Take the other end of the rod and insert it into the black strap that should be barely hanging down and pull down as you back away. This should pull the awning out. Once pulled out all the way, go to each end of the awning. Close to the wall of the RV there should be an arm hanging down with a knob on the back of it. Grab the bottom of the arm and slide it out and clip it into the end of the extended awning arm. Push down on the lower arm to tighten the fabric and then tighten the knob. Once both ends have been tightened then on the lower arm there will be a pull out handle in the middle, pull it out to release the lock pin and lift the outer portion of the lower arm up to raise the awning to the desired height. Repeat for the other end. If it is raining or windy put the awning away. DO NOT LEAVE IT OUT! The wind will catch it like a kite and rip it off of your trailer. Rain will fill it up like a swimming pool and collapse the center tube and trap you inside of the RV.

    Motor Home Door Awning

When you press the operation switch do you hear the motor clicking or trying to operate? If not you need to determine if you have power going to and through the operation switch. These motors usually have an inline circuit breaker that will need to be located. Some of the circuit breakers automatically reset themselves and some have a small button on the side that will pop out when tripped. Once you determine that you have power to the motor and it still does not work then you more than like have a bad motor and will need to manually override the motor to bring the awning in. The awning should have a manual crank that will allow you to connect to the center eye of the operating gear and manually close the awning. I have attached the installation and operating instructions for your awning. http://67.238.126.140/pdf/3307901.011.pdf

Awning toppers sagging and filling with water

    Hi Ced,

I would syphon out the water and tighten the awning. If the fabric has stretched too much from the sagging, you may need to add a stabilizer or replace it.

I found a great eHow article that will walk you through the steps for both scenarios: http://www.ehow.com/how_12125906_fix-sagging-awning.html

Power awning blows fuses when trying to extend

Hello. It sounds like you've got a short or a bad ground somewhere in the circuit that runs your awning. Could be a loose wire, a bare wire or damaged wire touching a ground or another damaged wire. Could also be in the motor (little DC motor somewhere I'm assuming) it may have seized or the windings gone bad and instead of working at taking up the electrical load, the load just shoots across it, which is dangerous hence the fuse blowing. Tracking down where a short could be is really a pain which is why it will be an expensive fix if you bring it somewhere. If you have the patience and some kind of multimeter, digital or analog, (you can pick one up cheap at any hardware store) you don't need the really fancy ones. A $5-$10 analog meter with a battery is sufficient. Then you've got to start from where the fuse is and work your way back towards where the power is coming from checking for faults (open) areas. Do this by putting the meter to the Ohms setting. Touch the leads together and the meter should shoot across to the other side. That's a short that you created by touching the leads together. Poking around you will want to look for the same result somewhere in the circuit starting at the fuse ending at the motor that drives the awning. It'll take some time but if you like to tinker you'll learn a little more about your jayco and electrical troubleshooting to boot! If none of that makes any sense or you have the money (or maybe even a warranty) bring it to an RV joint that sells Jaycos.

Have an awning with control panel model no

I'm not sure why you are asking this question; assuming you have aready looked for a manual winding feature. Some models have a cover plate that must be removed to access the manual wind device, however you will need a winding crank/handle that fits into the wind device. As far as the auto mechanism not working, 1st check to see if the electic is still coming to the unit ( was there any disruption to the electric line or wall work that would make the line be disconnected or the circuit breaker ? If you still have problems, l please return with a more detailed list of what you tried and what is/is not happening..
    Good luck, Macgivor
