I have a craftsman walk behind lawnmower and my pull string will not start the motor and it doesn't lock

The small metal peice is the engagment pawl, it sits into the plastic pulley, if it has come out the pulley will probably be damaged as well, you will need to remove the pulley securing screw and big washer, you should now see the slot in the pulley where the pawl sits.

Hi The washer will not spin at all. Thanks

Washer Does Not Spin

If your washer doesn't spin, check to see if the clothes have jammed or are unbalanced in the drum before calling a repairperson. Unbalanced clothes will also cause a washer to shudder or "walk." If straightening out the load doesn't stop the washer from shaking, look at the feet underneath and be sure they are properly adjusted to keep the washer sitting level on the floor (you just turn them to move them up or down).
or try to follow this instruction

1. Open the lid and reposition the clothes. Close the lid and retry. The washer may not spin at all if the tub is unbalanced.

2. Examine the lid switch for wear. Replace a worn lid switch by first using a screwdriver to remove the top of the machine. Remove the cabinet holding the old switch in place by unscrewing the two console screws, tilting the console back, removing cabinet clips, and unlocking the lid switch block. Unscrew the mounting screws, and disconnect the ground wires before removing the old switch. Insert the new switch in it's place.

3. Look for excessive glazing or cracks on the sides of the belt. If these signs appear, remove the old belt by tipping the washing machine over on it's side, and unscrew the clamps securing the pump coupling with a screwdriver. Place the new belt over the transmission pulley, and then over the motor pulley's nearest edge, slowly turning the motor pulley to pull the belt around and into the pulley.

4. Replace the washer's motor by firmly grasping on the metal slip-on connectors holding the wires in place, allowing you to pull the connectors apart. Use a screwdriver to unscrew all of the screws holding the motor in place, and remove the old motor. Insert the new motor in its place. Secure the new motor to the machine with screws, and reconnect the motor's wiring harness.

5. Replace the washer's pump by removing the service panel on the back of the machine with a screwdriver and disconnecting the washing machine drain line and the rubber pump outlet hose. Remove the fasteners holding the pump to the bottom of the machine, along with the drive belt from the pulley below the pump. Replace the old pump with a new one, and reinstall the drive belt back on the pulley, reinsert the fasteners and reconnect the rubber pump inlet and discharge lines.

May this help your problem.

Thanks good day!

Kenmore model 110.24642300. Basket/drum doesn't spin, though it sounds as if the motor itself is working fine. It isn't the latch on the lid. I think there's a belt or clutch issue inside. ...

Hi

One of the most common problems with washing machines, however, is that they won't spin. Usually this is caused by an issue that easily can be fixed, but other times it can be more serious. In some cases, just the balance of the load can cause the machine not to spin.
First open the lid and reposition the clothes. Close the lid and retry. The washer may not spin at all if the tub is unbalanced.

Wcvh62604fww starts fills and drains but does not agitate or spin. It does turn the drum in the beginning to test the load

These symptoms appear to be a problem with the drive system which includes the inverter that drives the drive motor and of course the drive belt. Verify first if you can hear the drive motor running and if yes, the drive belt has broke or slipped off the pulleys. Remove the screws securing the rear access panel and pull it outward from the middle to access and check the condition of the drive belt. Reinstall it if possible or replace it if necessary. Wrap it around the motor pulley then on one side of the drum pulley and turn the pulley in the direction in such a way that the belt will wrap the drum pulley.

Turn the drum pulley and the motor pulley with and without the drive belt if upon checking, the drive belt is still on. It will be known if there's restriction in either of the motor or the drum that prevents the machine from agitating or spinning. Try to start the machine with the drive belt off if no restriction is found which indicates that either the drive motor or the inverter is at fault.

Check the resistance of the motor windings (normally around 6 ohms across each of the 3 phases;otherwise, replace the motor) if the motor still doesn't run with the drive belt off. Check the continuity of the wire harness connecting the inverter and the drive motor if the winding resistances are good. Consider replacing the inverter if no problem is found with the drive motor and the wire harness.

How do i fit the replacement belt as i cant see how to adjust the motor

hello,

There is no adjustment to the motor,if you have the correct replacement belt then these are stretch fit belts.Firstly hold belt onto motor pulley then slowly turn onto main pulley whilst still holding on motor end you may find one side of big pulley easier than the other. It will take a lot of pulling round onto pulley and you may think its too tight but keep turning till its on then line it up in centre of main pulley.

Hope this helps,

The motor just humms loudly when I try to start it. If I give it a push it will start spinning, but boggs down if I put any food through it

Take the bottom plate off to expose the motor, drive belt, and pulleys (pull the power plug for this). Remove the drive belt and turn the motor shaft by hand--does it seem to turn freely? Do the same with the driven pulley--it should turn freely also. The pulleys and belt are likely cog-type and not prone to slippage. If either pulley shaft is excessively hard to turn, then investigate the reason, and replace parts if necessary. With the belt off, the motor should accelerate almost instantly. If relatively slowly, the motor may need to be replaced.
