Dear marygb,
This set may only need one or two small components; located and replaced. This is best done by a qualified TV tech.

Panasonic color TV model CT-32G9J won't turn on.

been a long time since fixed an crt tv. but if you have a stand by light the problem on this model is the control chip if remember right it sits on the left side near to the front. think its an 8 pin chip. these just go and it will not turn on. these chips are easy to get hold of and are cheap. you just need to remove it and replace with a new one. and the tv will work again. its not on the power board but is controlling the power start up. if there is no stand by light its a longer problem to solve. it could be a number of problems. would need to know if any problems happened before the tv did not turn on.

SONY tv won't turn on; hissing

Possible bad internal power supply unit. Contact Sony if youre still under warrenty or a local repair shop. I had a similar problem that caused mine to blow out from a power surge.

Sounds like the clunk most Sets have when dead cold and first turned on= a degaussing coil which will not stop the set from working.

If the power light does not make it on someone has to open the unit and see if the fuse inside is bad---not exactly a light set either and if you are not able consider either a shop or replacing the set as some repairs on this model can get rather expensive.

When the tv is turned on I hear a loud grinding like noise

May I know if the unit won't power up, has a three blinking led light at the front panel? Also, please check if the grinding noise is near the lamp assembly.

Hi Kathy,

Subsequent shutdown of TV's is an indication that there's something wrong most likely on the power supply board. Overload, excessive heat, aging of parts are some of the reason's why this kind of symptoms is encountered. Now, you're unit is not turning on at all, the power supply board is totally faulty. It is linked to the initial symptoms and I've suspected that the caused is not only one parts but multiple parts malfunctions.
To confirm the condition of the power supply board, it must be check by a qualified TV technician to accurately diagnose and estimate the cost of the repair to have an idea if it is worth to fix or not.
Have a nice day!

My Sylvania 32" Tv Model #SRT2232S won't turn

There is a fuse inside the power supply bard of your sylvania TV. Check whether it has blown out. If bllown out, replace it with same type bothe in size and amperage. If the newly inserted fuse also blow up as soon as you switch on the set, make sure that the power supply section has some short circuit in it, and should be cheked well. OK.

Does not come on. there is power to it but it does not com on. every once in a while it seems to be trying. like a surge but then notheing.

the tv is more than likely full of bad current and needs to be discharged. unplug it for about 24 hours, and then plug it back up and try it again......about 12 hours into the unit being unplugged, hold the power button down randomly for about 30 seconds at a time........plug the unit back up, try to turn it on, and listen for any unusual noises.....if you can, try to smell....yes smell.....the vents on the to back side of the tv, to see if anything smells like it is hot, or "frying"....everyone knows the smells of something electrical that is hot, and if you dont, you'll know it when you smell it.

if you encounter any of these issues, the nunplug the tv and dont try it anymore. you're last options would be a warranty exchange through the manufacturer, or taking it to a tv repair shop, or simply buying another tv. it's just limited on what you can do, as far as repairing the unit yourself goes, as there are several part of the tv that can hold enough current for up to 6 months, that WILL kill you, if you even so much as touch them. obviously i do NOT recommend trying to take the unit apart.

TV won't turn off

Or ironically the power switch on the TV could be stuck and causing a false on/off command. Don't let the simple things such as that be overlooked.
