Question about Crosley Stack-O-Matic CR40 Turntable

Turntable has stopped working, possible belt stretch

My crosley turntable won't spin so i checked inside it and i found that the belt has come off the platter so the belt may have stretched but the motor seems to have weakened because i attached the belt to the upper part of the platter (the wider part) and it spins too fast at 33 rpm and also can easily be stopped when i put my finger on the record. Is it possible to find a replacement belt for this specific turntable ? and do i need a replacement motor or belt?

I don't think it's likely that the motor is in trouble just by having the belt wrong. It would require more physical damage to cause the motor to play up. Having said that the motor could have been in trouble before you touched the belt. But you do need a new belt, all you need to do is measure the diameter of the belt in mm. You might also need to measure the width. To find a new belt put the words "turntable drive belt XXmm" into Google. You can add Crosley to the start, but many belts are universal. Your measurements don't need to be spot on with the diameter, so if you have measured it at say 95mm, a 90mm to 100mm belt will do the job. However fitting the new belt is a different matter. You need to know the correct way, or the speed might be wrong. I can't help you with the fitting of it, so you will need to check how to do it. Some makes have YouTube videos of the fitting. I would just look for Crosley and see if any look like your model.

If fitted correctly and there's a problem with speed still, then you should look more closely at the motor.

HELP: Stopped spinning

It's likely the belt has slipped of and probably needs replacing. You can do this yourself. It will be found under the turntable matt. The trick though is fitting it back on. But you might find the instructions on-line (enter the model number into google search). Some people have even put YouTube video's on how to replace the belt on popular turntables.

Turntable belt keeps falling off.

Hello, How old is the belt? It is possible that you might need a new belt. Just like a rubberband, it can stretch and with age, it starts losing it's elasticity. If that's the case, then the belt would fall off.
I would check with the manufacture to see if they have replacement belts. They can't be that expensive and it would be worth a try.
Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
Mac =)

On my Crosley there is a switch on the back for either Phono or Aux In. Make sure it is set to Phono or the turntable won't spin

Check the drive band- it may have come off the pulley. But if it is a new purchase then perhaps it should go back to the vendor
