Two possible reasons
If you have hidden your network name (SSID) in the wireless configuration in the router and use WEP or WPA security there may be a bug that can result in extended disconnect periods. Recommended solution unhide the SSID and keep the WEP or WPA security.
Second there are numerous wireless devices in use. Keep your wireless phone base station away from your wireless router. Try changing the channel your router's radio uses to transmit -- Channels 1, 6 and 11 are preferred. Try one you are not using, if that does not work try the other. (If you can see the surrounding channels in you connection wizard you may want to start with one no one else is using)

You can get the latest firmware here:
I don't think that it is a problem with your IP address settings.
I would disable all security temporarily, just to see if that makes a difference.
If you are using Windows Vista, take a look at this post and see if that could be one of the underlying problems.
If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Update your drivers and then do a speed test. Most isp send updates to the subscribers when they update, yours may not. Don't forget to check all of your connections before wasting time calling your isp. I trust this test the most. Rember you don't always get what you pay for.

My Belkin F5D7230-4 router would drop connection on my wireless about every 3 minutes for a minute, then reconnect. I tried everything. Even changing the roaming agressiveness on the card to 1. I bought a netgear wgr614 v9 from Best Buy for 42.39 (including tax). This netgear works perfectly, it hasn't dropped the wireless connection since I plugged it in a week ago. Belkin sucks really bad. If I had known the ammount of stress I could relieve by getting rid of the Belkin F5D7230-4 and getting something else I HIGHLY recommend the netgear wgr614 v9 as it is cheap and it just works flawlessly. I'm going to OFFICE SPACE my Belkin router when it warms up outside.
