Is the condenser fan and evaporator fan working? Is there frost build up on inside back wall of freezer? Either fan nor working would affect the cooling capacity. If there is frost in freezer, you have one or more defrost components (timer, heater, thermostat) bad.
The fan that blows cold air out of the freezer into fridge is not working or the passage is blocked check fridge side wall verify openings from freezer are clear and feel for airflow. I need a specific model # to provide better info.
when this happens in a side by side, the first thing i look for is frost on the back wall op fht e freezer, if its there, your not geting proper air circulation
unplug the machine for 24 hours this will clear the ice
\check your freezer fan for proper ops, if its working you may need service to determine whats wrong with your defrost
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper)
between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through
it.There is a flap you adjust with the
fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the
fridge temp .
OR.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer
are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of
cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In
most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board.
If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks
and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace
the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the
timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.
your defroster seems to be out. This is located in the space between your freezer and fridge where your temp. control is. This defroster can be purchased at an appliance parts supply take model number and serial number with you in order to get the correct part. Once part is obtained follow instructions and unplugg unit before servicingf
Yes it sounds like the thermostat, depending onmodel you can change yourself. Here is a video that shows how to check your compressor is working correctly.
With this model it suffers with the evaporator freezing up, try to defrost overnight with the doors open, restart the following day and it should start to work ok within 24hrs.
