is your engine revved up when engaging the blades or releasing the brake if so i would start with the fuel filter spark plug and make sure your fuel is no more then a couple months old after that the ethanol will separate from the gasoline and cause nightmares try running a bottle of B12 chemtool carb cleaner it has done wonders for me personally both cars and small equipment
Bad emergency brake switch. ..or the brake is not fully disengaging. These units will stall out if you have the brake on correct? Your unit still sensing the brake is on. Check that out first, bypass it by disconnectIno it.
