Make sure you used the correct computer. Also the ecu may need to be reflashed at the dealer.

Can a vehicle run with a non functioning ECM?

if the check engine lite doesn't work it most likely needs cluster removed and bulb replaced its blown. if the computer is bad it wont run. I wanna say that ecu fuse will clear code from computer but its not main power to it. I would start with the bulb that way you can get code.

Battery cables switched

Make sure an OBD reader is used to make a connection to the car's ECU/ECM. If no connection can be made, then you can remove the ECU and test it for current and resistance. If either of those tests fail, your car needs a new computer.

How much to fix the ECU computer on 1995 Jeep Wrangler?

No software upgrade will fix that bad ecu. There are electronic components inside the ecu that need to be replaced. Services for repair or replacement of your ecu are available on ebay.

Replaced the ecm computer on 2001 dodge durango then start it up and it runs and then cuts itself off after 15 seconds

The ECU would have to be programmed from the dealer. It normally costs somewhere around $100 to have it reprogrammed. The reason it needs reprogrammed is because the factory theft module in your car is different than the theft module in the car that the "new" ECU came from. I had this problem with my 1997 Cadillac Deville.

All you would have to do is get it to a Dodge dealership and have them reprogram the ECU. Make sure you explain that you just replaced the ECU, and you need it reprogrammed to match your SUV.

Please vote on my solution whether good or bad. Thanks! :D

if you replace the ecu (computer) it will work fine.
it will have to adjust to new engine sensor settings, but it does that by itself.
most ecu are damaged by jump starting

Engine Control Unit(ECU)

The ECU is a Direct Link to the Onboard Computer. You may need to get the Computer Replaced or at Least have a Mechanic run a Diagnostics Check on it. The reason it is acting this way is Because you are just Clearing the Trouble Codes by removing the ECU for a while. It is still sending a Fatal Error after Driven for a While.
