Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

My Power strip randomly shuts everything off.

I only have two things plugged into my power strip, my 50'' Plasma and my DVD player. It has been working fine for as long has I've had it and last night it kept randomly turning off. I would hit the reset button and it would be fine for about ten minutes and then turn off again. I'm not sure if it is the power strip or something else electrical. I've checked my breaker and nothing has kicked off.

SOURCE: Power light flashing/ no picture

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

SOURCE: Power light comes on, followed by a high pitched whine

Hi, If after trying the TV again later and problem persist, repairs are in order. A high pitched whine is an indication of a fault at the horizontal section of your TV. The horizontal provides the high voltage for the picture tube. Your best bet maybe to seek the services of a qualified professional TV repairman since this involves component level repair, soldering/desoldering, use of soldering iron and VOM (testers) and knowledge of circuitry. Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: won't power up

Im having the same problem, however I have a remote with my laptop and I can power it on using it. After a lot of research the most useful information I've found is at http://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Laptops_Notebooks/Q_23091890.html
I'm also having the issue with audio, no speaker sound but headphone jacks work fine. Looks like i may be replacing the power button. No warranty here.

Panasonic viera 50" plasma TH-50PZ85X shuts off after 2 hours

No error code is being triggered, If you are using a box do not forget when you remove power to the TV also remove power for box and set at same time, other than that may be a main board issue.

Me I would to rule crazy things out disconnect everything going to the set except a DVD player and sit back and see when it fails, I am just wondering if something coming in is not triggering this, these sets have pretty good detection and if shut down show a error most of time.

Not sure if any of this will help but felt you deserved some thoughts at least.

I have a thin yellow line in the center and vertical on my toshiba 50

Change input device to some other like a DVD player and see.
Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.
If problem persists, call in a qualified service technician.

MY DVD PLYEAR PLAYS ONLY CD DISC

Sounds like the lens has gotten too weak to play dvd's. There really isn't much you can do. The only two things to try are a laser lens cleaning disc, and if you have it plugged into a power strip then try plugging it directly into the wall. Sometimes the power strip and decreased voltage through will help you extend the life of the player by plugging it straight into the wall outlet. If neither of these solutions work I would consider replacing the dvd player.
Thank you,
Lee

My Memorex MVD2042 DVD player isn't getting any power

If you are plugging your DVD Power Plug into the TWC Box. Unplug it and plug it into a 'known' hot socket, (wall..con strip.etc.). Ensure the AC plug is inserted fully into the DVD player. The TWC AC connection may be disabled.

Lg plasma mt 42pz10

I wish I had an answer for you but I'm in the same boat. I've got a 42pc5d and it's doing the same thing. I'll turn it on using either the remote or the power button on the unit itself. The LED will blink either two or three times, then shut itself off. I tried plugging the unit into a different outlet. I tried unhooking all inputs (PS3, DVD player, antenna, etc). The tv was still shutting itself off. I called tech support and the lady who answered asked me if there was a power button on the unit. Well, of course I understand LG has hundreds of models but I felt like I was dealing with someone who didn't care enough to even open the manual to see for herself. Anyway, after a "reset", the TV is now nothing more than a very expensive paperweight. To say I'm displeased is an understatement.

Random no audio

I have had this happen with this particular brand frequently. I have it plugged in to a power "strip" or surge protector. I find that if I turn the strip off then on again, it resets and fixes the problem.
