Re: Printer problem

This is a common problem if you refill the ink as opposed to getting a new cartridge because the circuits on it start to fail after some time. If its newer, there is still a possibility that it's defective. Does it print or just keep telling you the error?

I have a X5470 Lexmark printer and it keeps telling me there is an alignment problem and is asking me to remove tape from the cartridges. There is no tape there that I can see.

It could be the cartridges in the carrier. Open the printer cover. Remove both cartridges. While the cover is open, check for any obstructions in the cartridge carrier's path. If all is well, close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first then close the cover. Check for any errors. Then, open the printer cover again and reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear. Or you can try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

My printer is asking me to check replace colour cartridge, i have done this but still the same issue and i obviously can't do anything with it. thanks

Issue After you install a print cartridge, the following message appears on the color graphics display: Cartridge error: one or both cartridges are not intended for use in this printer . The device will not print. Solution Step one: Remove, inspect, and reseat the cartridges The print cartridge may not have full electrical contact with the printer. Removing and reinstalling the cartridge may help. NOTE: HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled cartridges.
  1. Make sure the printer is on. Press the Power button if it is not lit.
  2. Open the printer cover, then wait until the print cartridge carriage is idle and silent.
  3. Press down lightly on the end of the problem cartridge to release it. Figure 1: Removing the tri-color cartridgec00484998.gif
  4. Slide the cartridge out and inspect it: CAUTION: Do not touch the copper electrical contacts or the ink nozzles. Figure 2: Electrical contacts and nozzlesc00211537.gif 1 - Copper electrical contacts 2 - Nozzles
    • Check the electrical contacts for debris.
    • Make sure all the clear nozzle protective tape has been removed. CAUTION: Do not attempt to remove the copper electrical strip! Figure 3: Removing the clear nozzle protective tapec00211538.gif
    • Look at the number on the print cartridge label and make sure it is compatible with your printer. Compatible print cartridges are listed in the Printer Reference Guide supplied with your printer.
  5. If the cartridge is compatible, reinstall it in the printer:
    • Cartridges marked with a triangle go into the left carriage slot.
    • Cartridges marked with a square or pentagon go into the right carriage slot.

My c4180 printer says Ink cartridge problem. Remove and check colour cartridge. Cant get message to go away. I use original Hp ink cartridges

If the color cartridge contacts are clean and there is stil ink in the cartridge.
What you could try is to remove both ink cartridges.
Close cover and turn off printer and unplug the printer.
Wait at least 15 minutes for the printer to reset to clear memory.
Plug the printer back in and turn on and install the ink cartridges.
If you cartridge is not empty and has not expired.
You may call HP and ask for a free replacement.

How to Reset an HP Inkjet Cartridge
Hi there
Things You'll Need:
Adhesive tape

HP inkjet cartridge can be refilled easily, getting it to work again in the printer is another matter.
The contacts on the back of the cartridge are programmed to read the ink level, but they don't reset for the printer just because you add more ink.
You must get the printer to recognize the cartridge as new.
You can do this easily if you have two other old cartridges, or you can manipulate the contacts on the refilled cartridge.

Step 1
Insert the cartridge you refilled into the HP Printer.
Have the printer print an alignment page, thus recognizing the cartridge. The printer will still read the ink level as where it was before you refilled it.
Step 2
Remove the cartridge from the printer and replace it with another old cartridge.
Have the printer print an alignment page with this cartridge so it recognizes it as a different cartridge from the first one.
Step 3
Replace the second cartridge with a third one and run the same alignment page.
Because the printer only retains the memory of two Print Cartridges, it will erase the memory of the first (refilled) cartridge.
Step 4
Insert the refilled cartridge into the printer.
The printer will now recognize the cartridge as being full.

Next Steps
Step 1
Tape over the contact squares on the top left corner of the cartridge's contacts. Insert the cartridge into the printer and run an alignment page. Ignore any messages that might appear saying there is a problem with the cartridge.
Step 2
Take the cartridge out of the printer. Remove the tape from the left corner and tape over the contact squares on the top right corner. Place the cartridge backs in and run another alignment page.
Step 3
Remove and reinsert the cartridge, this time with no tape on any of the contacts. Check to see if the printer recognizes the cartridge as being full.
Step 4
Repeat the above steps if the cartridge is still shown as being empty.
This time, use the bottom corner contact squares instead of the top ones. If you are still unable to reset the cartridges, using multiple cartridges is likely the only way to do it.
jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); All I ask is to call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

My printer says clear paper jam but there is none and i can't enter any other mode

Good day! Try these simple steps to remedy the problem. Remove all sheets of paper from the printer. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Check and clear the inside the printer from any foreign objects. Close the cover. Unplug the printer from the power outlet. Give it 10-15 seconds before you plug the power back in. When the printer asks for the cartridges, load them back in. When asked to load paper in the printer, place just 5 sheets of paper for now. Hope that resolves the problem. Good luck!

My HP printer is displaying the following message: Remove and check cartridge. I have removed and checked the cartridge, even replacing the black cartridge and still get the same message.

One of the printer cartridges had a expiration date of 2008/9/2. I replaced the cartridge with a new one and the printer now works. Thanks for asking.

Check if the cartridge was inserted correctly (right slot) (remove it and insert it again)
Check if the cartridge is original and the sticker was removed. Turn off your computer, and your printer. Start up your computer and after your printer. Try again.

If the problem continues, insert the old one cartridge (which was removed before) and see what happen...

If stop asking for install color cartridge, you have failure on your new cartridge
and need to be replaced.
