Question about GE GSL22JFR Side by Side Refrigerator
My wife and I just bought a GE side-by-side TFX26Z used. The seller said it worked fine and we had no reason to doubt her because she had apeared to be using it up until recently. After transporting it and cleaning it for an hour and a half, we plugged it in and then hooked up the water hose. The lights work and the water works, but it doesn't seem to be getting very cool or cold in either the fridge or the freezer respectively. It's emitting a steady hum so it sounds like it's working but I guess I'm just anxious to know that it works after all the hassle of moving it and cleaning it. There's a decal in the fridge that reads "Allow 24 hours for adjustments in temperature" so I suppose the refrigerator won't be open for business until tomorrow. I admit I'm in uncharted waters with this as I've always rented in the past and my biggest battles have been with tundra-like ice in freezers. I just really wanted to go buy some milk and ice cream. Here's hoping waiting is the answer. Tell me I didn't just buy a inconveniently configured cabinet.
If the compressor is shaped like a coffee can and not like a cantalope then yes..you probably just got took. I had to replace many "rotary" compressors on GE/Hotpoint refrigerators built in 87-88. I hope i'm wrong. good luck :)
