you need to do an amp draw with your meter, clamp the run wire on the compressor, you should get 2-5 amp reading, any higher means the compressor is going bad, also should be a locked rotor amp(LRA) reading on comp.-mike

SOURCE: fridge condensation - freezer thawing

OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

(this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

Refrigerator stopped cooling. As close as I can tell the fan in the freezer part was frosted up for a length of time and has possibly ruined the fridges cooling fan? Kenmore model 106 freezer on top.

If the fan in the freezer stops, then coll air from freezer will not pass from freezer section to fridge section. In that case, the freezer section will get over frosted but fridge section will not get cold, because cool air will not pass from freezer to fridge. The fan is there for two things, 1) for cooling the heating evaporator coil and 2) For flowing the cool air from freezer to fridge.---------- If the frost is getting collected and fan is getting stuck up in frost, then this is the problem. The defrost cycle is not running, the cooling cycle is running.---------------
This problem is called defrost problem.-------------

So first thing you try is , perform, manual defrost reset procedure.---------

The manual defrost reset procedure is as follows : ----
First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. Then check,if same frost is getting collected, then its defrost problem,. If it's again building up ice that means the unit is not defrosting. It's starting the cooling procedure, and then while defrosting, it's not working. The defrost assembly consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its defrost board causing the problem. Maytag msd2641kew fridge side is not cooling its warm . freezer is still cold notice some of the ice look like it was starting to melt a litte. turned freezer up acouple of hours ago stuff is staying...

Sounds like a defrost problem, is there ice on the back wall of the freezer? If so the defrost system has failed. The most common repair is a Part# 67004757 defrost thermostat and adaptive defrost board Part# 67004704. Even with the parts in your hand, you will need to de-ice the freezer to replace the thermostat in the freezer section, then unplug unit to replace the adaptive defrost board located in the controls of the refrigerator section. Normally it can take about an hour to complete.
Good Luck

The freezer component is frezzing continuously.

This problem is related to defrost.

Try manual defrost reset procedure: ----

First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. If the same problem occurs then it's defrost problem. The defrost board and the defrost thermostat/heater is not functioning properly and it has to be checked and replaced. you can get the required parts from online sites like:---

www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------

If it's again building up ice that means the unit is not defrosting. It's starting the cooling procedure, and then while defrosting, it's not working. The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.

I have a Artic Air White Reach In Freezer. It is not blowing cold air from he top where the cold air comes in. Freezer was at 60 degrees F. I turned the defrost switch to make sure it wasn't in...

Is the freezer itself getting cold.To blow cold air.the freezer should get cold/friezed.the cold air blows from freezer to fridge side.first the freezer side gets cold, then when the freezer side gets enough cool to its set cooling temperature, at that time the defrost cycle starts. In defrost cycle the fan in the freezer starts running and the cool air from freezer starts going to fridge side. There is a ventilation passage between fridge and freezer from where this cool air passes.---------------- If in your case, the freezer is getting proper cold, but its not blowing cold air from freezer to fridge, then possibility is that, there is a blockage in ventilations. But if ventilation its clear, then its defrost problem.First try manual defrost reset procedure. The procedure is as follows: ---- First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then its defrost board problem. ------------------------- BUT if in your case, the freezer section itself is not getting cold, then the problem is compressor related. The compressor is the part which cools the freezer frost. In the compressor, there is a refrigerant to cool the freezer. If the compressor gets weak or the refrigerant gets low, then it will not cool the freezer, if the freezer is not cool then it will blow warm air from freezer to fridge, in defrost cycle. In that case, the compressor is faulty and its the cause of problem.------------ So you will have to first check , that is your freezer getting cold or not.as per that you can start the troubleshooting.------------------

I have a model gss25lgmb bb. Im having issues with (couple of months) my fridge randomly stop cooling. Causing everything to defrost. My fan still seems to be on but not cooling or freezing. PLEASE HELP

If its not cooling or freezing then the compressor has to be checked. The compressor is the part which controls the cooling and freezing in the refrigerator. If the gas / refrigerant in the compressor gets low/ less then compressor will run more but it will not cool due to less refrigerant in compressor. In that case the compressor needs to be replaced. -------------- Also it can be faulty defrost assembly parts causing this issue. The thermostat is got faulty or the heater is not turning off. This also causes every thing to get defrosted.

Before that you can try manual defrost reset procedure. The manual defrost reset procedure is as follows : ----First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Does not go into defrost mode. refrigerator section becomes hot

The defrost is not working. This happens due to the evaporator coil in the inner section of freezer is got blocked by ice .--------

--------------------

The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the refrigerator section and the refrigerator section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located. Now this problem which you mentioned. In this problem the freezer thaws, this happens if the thermostat is not functioning or the heater is not heating. Then the ice starts getting collected on the evaporator coil. The evaporator coil is at the internal section of freezer. If too much ice gets collected then this ice blocks the fan in the freezer section from functioning and this blocks the damper section with ice getting collected there. This all procedure is controlled by the defrost board of the unit.

-----------------

So first try reset procedure. If that is not helping then defrost assembly parts are to be checked and replaced. The defrost thermostat is located in the freezer section beside the evaporator coil. The defrost heater is located in the freezer section beside the evaporator coil. And the defrost control board is located in the fridge section.-------------

you can get the required parts from online sites like:---

www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
