Want to know what a should set gauge on for my Whirlpool Upright freezer model ev200fxkq04- serial #ewm0608422 date 200202

The best method for determining the number to set your freezer to is to start in the middle. If your freezer dial goes from 1-10, set it at 5 and check the temperature inside. The ideal temperature for your freezer should be 0 degrees farenheit.

I have a ocean fridge freezer & want to know if No.1 is the coldest setting or No. 9 is the coldest on the temperature dial

9 is usually the coldest setting. Turn the dial all the way. The side with the click is off. If it does not click, then turn it all the way and listen for the compressor to turn on or off. What I just told you applies only to the freezer. The numbers on the dial for the fridge should be the same.

Refrigerator less than two months old. Freezer side fine refrigerator side stopped working altogether. All food ruined. Who should I contact. purchased from Home Depot.

This is a very common issue, If the freezer compartment is cold and making ice the
problem is simply airflow from the freezer into the refrigerated section.
Typically when one senses the refrigerator is warm they max out the settings
on both dials the thermostat with its 1-10 settings as well as off for the compressor.
This controls the compressor and temperature.
The additional setting or dial is for colder freezer or refrigerator as well , However
it simply opens or closes a flapper door between the freezer and refrigerator boxes.
When that dial or setting is maxed , it closes and makes the freezer colder, yet leaves the refrigerated section starved for sufficient airflow to maintain a cold box in the refrigerated section.
Just set the dial that does not turn the compressor off to the middle setting.
One can leave the thermostat that does control the compressor in the max setting , just not the colder freezer setting, If you notice colder isnt colder refrigerator, Its actually colder freezer, A common issue found on 25% of all refrigerator calls a simple setting adjustment.
Its easy to think that maxing out the settings makes for a colder refrigerator, it doesnt, it makes a colder freezer and warm rerigeration section.
If a freezer is making ice, theres nothing wrong with the unit other than airflow setting.

My GE TFX30PP is constantly running and doesn't turn off. The freezer is very cold but the frig side isn't cold enough. A repair guy put in a new "cold contol" sensor but it didn't help.

I would also clesan the condenser coils off.

What is the best temperature for the bottom freezer and refrig?

Set both dials in the middle.

If you have a nearly full freezer, add 1 dial unit.
If you have a nearly full refrigerator, add 1 dial unit.

If your freezer is less than half full, step down 1 dial unit
Refrigerator should not be less than mid-point on dial (it gets open more often).

This is a good starting point, adjust in a month or so.

Is it possible to turn OFF completely the refrigerator section and leave ON the freezer section of our side by side, so that we can use the freezer only. We do not need the refrigerator section.

Don't know which refrigerator make/model:

There are two dials, one for refrigerator and one for freezer.

Set refrigerator dial to lowest setting, leave freezer setting alone. Refrigerator will still operate at warmer swetting so it will not create mildew or odors... use odor-killing soda.
You might store foodstuff / cans/sealed boxes of cereal, flour, etc.

Temperature

Lower numbers are warmer temps.  Get an outdoor thermometer and put it in the fridge.  It should read about 40 degrees F if you've left the door closed for an hour or so.  Don't worry about the freezer too much.  It should be at 0 F or so.  Generally, leaving the settings at 2 or 3 is right on most units.
