Question about Fisher and Paykel 23 in. DD-603SS Built-in Dishwasher

DS603 fisher paykel motor noise when starting up

When starting to wash the dishwasher starts a loud humming for 20-30 seconds then stops for 5 seconds then the loud noise again for 20 seconds then proceeds to wash. When time to rinse sounds start over again. Of course the sound comes from the bottom of the drawer but I don't know if it's the pump or motor.

The pump and motor for DD603 is the same device. It is a rotor lodged inside a cavity under the drain filter plate. I am assuming the dishdrawer is drained properly and at end of the wash there is no water sitting inside. You need to take the rotor device out from its cavity and check for damage. Thanks, I put in a new rotor and then a week later the motor froze. I tried to pull the rotor out again and the top part came off eposing the shaft to the motor. Tried turning the shaft, won't budge.

I have the motor out but can't figure out how to remove the pump. The bottom part ot the rotor is still stuck inside the cavity.

Had to pry out rotor, took an hour. The blue plastic was seized to the side of the motor cavity all the way around. The rotor is in a hundred pieces and I can see the blue plastic inside the cavity. Assume motor is shot or can I clean it up with sandpaper and put in another rotor?

Well you can clean up the motor and put in another rotor. I used a drill motor with a wire brush to get the blue plastic from the cavity then hand sanded the sides all the way around. Put everything back together, put in the rotor and started the dishwasher for a rinse. To my suprise it worked. The motor cavity looked pretty mangled after digging the frozen rotor but is working OK.

SOURCE: Fisher & Paykel DD601 top drawer won't start.

Most likely the micro-switch that tells the controller that the drawer is closed is broken. Its a tiny little black switch at the back of the left drawer slide, it had a metal actuator that is prone to breaking.

SOURCE: Fisher Paykel dishwasher drawer won't stop.

Let's go to diagnostic test mode to see if you can retrieve the the actuator hence the tube out.
1- Press Lock button and start/pause key until the display showing up.
2- Press Power to show HO.
3- Press start button to advance the display until you see P2 for draining, if you pass, keep doing it to get it back in a loop.
4- When at P2, press lock to turn on, press a again to turn off.
5- Listen to the sound of the pump. If you hear nothing that means the pump is dead or stuck.
6- The Motor has 2 directions: one for, Rinse and one for Drain. When you done with the diagnostic, press the power button to get out of the mode.
7- If this is the case, unplug the power then remove the rack, the bottom stanless steel plate with holes then take out the rotor to clean up. It is a good design the stator is outside of the tube, so you don't have to worry too much about the complication.
8- Make a note of all the positions so you can put them back the same as they were. Good luck

The likely reason for top drawer not starting wash program when you press start button is the drawer home sensor is either faulty or the drawer is misaligned. This means controller thinks the drawer is open and does not start the cycle.

Fisher-Paykel washer pump noise & some water left in tub

Lube the brass bearings on the motor. For some reason the bearing on the bottom nearest to the cooling fan will start to whine. I would guess because it's kicking dust up around the unit. I used a lube that will hold in place. Lube between the bracket that holds the motor together and by the fan. The noise should stop. I also suggest you lube the top bearing as well. The lube I recommend is a Silicone paste type.
