turn on monitor first with it plugged into laptop via vga cable.
THEN turn on laptop and start it from OFF .
it has to detect the monitor is plugged in to laptop before it will offer video selection via FN F8 key
I HAVE A DELL MONOTOR WITH, TODAY I TURNED IT ON AND IT HAS A 2 INCH YELLOW LINE GOING VERTICAL ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN ...WHAT CAN I DO TO POSSABLY FIX THIS ISSUE?
Since an external monitor works, it is the display's backlight or inverter board.
If you were experiencing discoloration in the screen (pinkish lower light hues)
before it failed, that would indicate a CCFL backlight issue. If the screen
suddenly went dim on you rather than a slow degradation the inverter would be indicated.
Bring or call the place where you purchased it. This should be cover by warrenty (inside 2 months). Call the co. for a RMA, Replacement order. And talk to them about the details. This shouldn't be a big problem.
