Hello, I recently reinstalled windows on my computer due to a series of crashed and the win32 virus, i used my factiry CD. I use the Windows XP Media Center Edition, my machine is an eMachines W3507 At the begginning, i had the all famous NTLDR is compressed message, so i could't go anywhere from there, so i switched my hard drive from class selective to slave, and only then was i able to reinstall windows. It was all going well until i tried to go on the internet, i said that my ethernet controller drivers were missing, and so were the drivers for my pci modem, so after 2 weeks of downloading and installing the incorrect drivers for my ethernet controller, i gave up and now i find myself typing this message. I have lost all hope on the ******** at eMachines customer service, because they just tell me to call some guy in India, and he tells me to give him my credit card number, because i never put my coomputer on a waranty.
Does anybody know a website where i can download these drivers, or someone who can help me? Any help would be gratefully received thanks in advance Alex

reboot to safe mode using f8 right before the windows logo screen at boot comes on. after on this, run a virus and spyware removal program. i recommend www.superantispyware.com for this.
this problem is mostlikely due to a virus or spyware. If all else fails, put your windows xp cd in and when this loads, select install windows then let it detect installed windows. select "repair" as your option for a repair reinstall, this will fix damaged or mising windows files.
This may be because of the corrupt files or due to an virus infection, how ever you can fix this problem by replacing the corrupted files with clean system files. For this you require a OS cd. Follow the instructions below.
This process is called System File Checker(SFC)
1. Go to Start, then to Run, and type in " SFC.EXE /SCANNOW " ( only text in bold) press Enter.
2. This would ask you to insert the Windows XP / Vista Installation CD.
If problem still persists, feel free to revert back.
Reinstall windows system is very easy to to operate but without having a Bootable Disk or that Windows XP Media Center Edition Disc, i think you have to buy a new one or Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition. It's in the market. And also if you friends that are using any Compaq Presario which they have the WINDOWS CD. Borrow it to install in your LAPTOP. At least XP Media Center Edition they use. There is another options on how to put operating system on your laptop. To gather any information or to do at least we have any ideas how to get it. No need for any Serial #. Genuine Windows Media Center Edition have it's own LICENSE or CD KEY. Hope this might help you my idea. Good luck!
I doubt it is a virus as you have not indicated doing anything that a virus could have been transmitted to your system. The blue screen of death at boot up time simply means the files that find your operating system are not working properly. Specifically, if you want to Google them they are NTLDR (NT Boot Loader), Boot.ini (tells the system the name and location of your system) NTDETECT.COM (inventories your hardware) and HAL.DLL also monitors hardware. If you could get those three files on a disk-NTLDR, Boot.ini and NTDETECT.COM, then it would boot. They are located in the C:\ drive of any computer with windows but you have to release the hidden files button first...best thing to do is go to the Microsoft Knowledge Base at support.microsoft.com and research your error and those files..you're not the only one this has happened to so there may be a fix in the knowledge base. Besides its good practice to use the Knowledge Base as you can find out about any answer on windows there..good luck. Please rate this solutionl.
if your os often corrupted means it can be due to a virus......because 50% of the xp crashes will be occuring due to virus......i am computer engineer.....and i have handled these crashes many times....thats why i am telling.....otherwise the problem will be in motherboard.....but if motherboard is new....the chances that caused crashes by motherboard will be very less or nil.....so i better suggest you to scan your computer with a good anitivirus.....because if virus exists the chances of crashing will be high.....the best antivirus i suggest you to usekaspersky internet secuity 7.0......as it detection rate is higher than any other antivirus......if your problem still persists i suggest you to call software engineer to solve the problem....because by seeing the your computer only one can know the exact problem....thats why....
