You might check http://www.appliancepartspros.com/ or Sears parts (on-line or your Sears store. There are probably appliance parts stores in your town who might help as well. I hope you find your part.

I NEED A SPOOL COVER WHERE CAN I GET IT ?

How to make a spool cap cover for an American Gardener YS24 (Weedeater XLT24) Trimmer

If you've tried to buy parts lately for your trimmer, you've noticed they are harder and harder to find. In fact, I was unable to find a spool cap cover, so I came up with this work-around.

Before you start this project, it's important to save any parts from the old spool cover-especially the top, if you can. The top is needed to make a spacer for the new cover that will still allow you to "bump" out the string.

I used a Craftsman 71-64215 replacement spool retainer to make my new spool cover cap. It fits the Craftsman C3 19.2 volt 74381 String Trimmer (CRAC06540 spool cap). I found this cap at a local Ace Hardware, but apparently it is also getting hard to find-I googled the Ace Hardware number to find it on the web-"7314644 cap." I bought a couple extra from HardwareDistributors.com. Note that the diameter of the cover at the tabs is the same diameter of the old cover-although the diameter of the cap is slightly larger.

Take the old cover, and using the tab from the old cover, mark a line on the new tabs the same width as the old. Make sure you center the old tab on the new tab so you will remove the same amount of plastic from each side of the new tab. I used a dremel tool with the cutoff wheels to cut the tabs on the new cap to the same size as the old cap.

If you look at the new cap, there is a round plastic circle ridge on the bottom of the cap. If you look closely you can see a slight indention, or discoloration on the top of the new cap matching the circle on the bottom. You need to cut the plastic out of the new cap matching the plastic circle. I used a dremel tool with a metal cylindrical grinder to do that.

Once you get everything cut, put the old cap into the new cap so that the spokes face down toward the similar spokes on the top of the spool. You may have to trim the old cap so it fits into the new cap.

Finally, snap everything together into your trimmer-don't forget the spring. Note that the new cap has about a 1/8 inch gap above the spool. However, this doesn't seem to affect the trimmer-and you can still "bump" the head to eject the string.

All keys on laptop faulty. Cannot write one sentence without letters missing, including space-bar

Either the cable connecting the keyboard to the laptop's motherboard has come loose, or the keyboard itself is bad.

You don't give a brand or model so I can't be too specific, but it's usually not difficult to remove a laptop keyboard. On most models you need to remove the plastic hinge covers and trim strip along the top edge. Often these are one molded piece, but on some computers the hinge covers are separate pieces. Look for small screws that may hold the cover down on the back edge or possibly through from the bottom. After removing any screws, the plastic pieces snap off. Be careful not to break the strip or hold-down tabs. Just work slowly and carefully.

With the trim strip off you can see the top edge of the keyboard. On some computers there are 3 or 4 screws holding the keyboard down. Other models have screws that go through from the bottom, and these are often labeled with a K.

Once the keyboard is free, lift it carefully by the top edge and tip it toward you. You'll be able to see the cable that connects to the main board. Make sure it's firmly seated in its connector. Set the keyboard back into place (you don't need to worry about putting all the hardware back yet) and see if the trouble continues. If it's back to normal, put all the screws back in, snap the covers back on and you've fixed your laptop. Otherwise, check online (eBay's a good place) for a replacement keyboard. They are widely available now for most models, and the prices are usually reasonable. Plug the cable from the new keyboard into the motherboard connector and replaces all the other stuff.

It is possible, but not common, that the keyboard controller on the motherboard itself is bad. If that's the case, the only fix is to change the board. That's a job best left for a professional. Replacement boards are available, but can be costly, so if the board is the trouble it may be time to consider replacing the computer. But the keyboard is normally the culprit.

Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya. If this has helped you, please take a moment to give a thoughtful rating.

I need the plastice marker light cover for my 2005 S80 Volvo.

The best place to get this part is from an auto recycling center ( i.e. junkyard). Get the Yellow Pages and look up
Automobile Parts & Supplies Used & Rebuilt for local parts. You can even use www.yellowpages.com for help. Call several places for prices. If no one has it, they can usually get it from another place for you.
Of course you can pay full price for a new item.

How do i take out the ink thingy

You will need: 1 Replacement ink roll - Porelon PR42 Ink Roll (This roll will replace the black and red ink all on one roll) Available at OfficeMax or other supply stores.

You must first remove the clear plastic cover on top of the calculator (where the tape comes out). Remove the old ink roll. You will see on the roll where it says "pull up". It will pop out easily. Replace it with the new ink roll, it will just snap in place. Replace the clear plastic cover. It should now be ready to go!
