Re: hpofficejet 9130

I heard about this happening with other HP printers. Sorry to say but it sounds the sensor unit in the HP printer might be broken. Your best bet is to call up HP and have them replace the printer if its under warranty if not you might have to return the printer for a new one.

I have a 4620, and had the same thing occur with the black ink. After a few hours on the phone with HP and them sending me a replacement printer that also wouldn't print, I found that there is a "vent" on the printer cartridges that if clogged, will cause that color not to print. The vent is on the top of the cartridge, facing up when installed into the printer. The vent looks like a "T". Unfortunately, the packaging that HP uses on these cartridges sometimes causes glue to clogged the vent. Take a sharp nail or straight pin, and clean out the vent. Hope this is successful for you.

Keeps saying insert colour cartridge when we have just bought a new cartridge of correct spec. Says incorrect colour cartridge installed.Impossible to get past!!!

Hi,The most common reason for missing or incorrect colors is a print cartridge with one of the following problems:
  • One or more of the ink colors is empty. The black ink and all three colors of ink in the tri-color cartridge must be available or colors will be incorrect or missing. Under normal usage, the print cartridge will run low on one color of ink shortly before all ink colors are emptied.
  • The protective tape is not removed from a new cartridge.
  • Contacts on the cartridge are not making proper contact with the print carriage.
  • The cartridge is remanufactured or refilled.
  • The cartridge is defective.

My hp officejet 9130 will not print in color.

Try runing the printer test and see if colors print. If they don't your color cartridge is cloged. You can try to set the print head(copper strip on bottom of cartridge) on a damp paper towel for a while to try and unclog the head. You should see the colors on the towel. Dry head off and try again. Hp uses water base ink and it will dry up after setting for awhile. The printer knows it has ink in the cartridge, because it will try to print, so it has to be the print head.
The print head has two lines of holes or jet for each color and if some of them are cloged, it will look striped or missing colors.

OfficeJet 9130 incorrectly reporting empty ink cartridge

Look to see if there is dirt or other debris inside the Magenta Ink slot. There is probably something there disrupting the ink flow. Use a flash light to see if ink is clogged. Use Acohol with Q tip to clean the area and reinsert the ink cartridge. Make sure the printer is off and the slot has dried before turning the printer back on.
Hope this helps. Helen

Installed new cartridges; keep getting error message

I'd say your using dodgy aftermarket or non HP cartridges, you could put your old ones in and see if message goes away, if having problem when using with Original HP cartridges post back and I'll did deeper for you.

I dont work for HP, I do know printers :-)

Cartridge problems

Ref: our live chat - Definitely worth replacing the colour one with a new one - some other people had identical problem and that cured it - they really don't survive not being used very well. :)
