Whoa. yOU TRIED TO do what? Oh boy, now you\'re in a pickle. My suggestion to you would be to try the Factory restore again, and THIS time have it erase the previous operating system and not SAVE any settings or ANYTHING. SOmetimes, as with ACER, and WITH ACER....Doing a Factory Restore when trying to save your OLD data will corrupt the new install 70 percent of the time. My suggestion and my STRONG suggestion is to do the Factory Restore and to WIPE out the old data and let the Acer Recovery Manager walk you through the rest. The Restore Partition has ALL of the drivers and things that you will need to get the Laptop back up and running again.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Reinstalling windows os

Restoring your Acer back to factory setup will not bring back any viruses.
BUT you need the Acer recovery CD for your model laptop.
Acer Recovery CD is available from their WEB site.

Got a blue screen of death while restoring to factory settings and now it wont start?

probably missing some important drivers--boot into SAFE-MODE then START> right click on MY COMPUTER>PROPERTIES>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and see where the issues are
you can get the drivers you need from ACER (use another pc and download them to a usb flashdrive)

If this was helpful, please indicate so, if not -comment back so we can dig further to resolve this.

Acer Aspire 5100 back to factory settings

You may be able to hold F2 as you power up to open up the "setup" screen. There should be an option to restore to factory defaults on that screen.
