Question about HP LaserJet 4mv Printer
The printer often cannot feed the paper from the main tray or manual tray. It is never able to feed cardstock. Additionally the printer makes a squeaking noise when trying to pick up paper.
The feed rollers need to be replaced. The squeak is the worn rollers sliding over the edge of the paper.

You could try simply cleaning the feed roller but it desirves more than that from the sounds of your relationship
The fed rollers are probally worn and need replacement,as you have had it for a long time and it has treated you well why not do the machine a favour and have a maintence kit fitted.

you need to locate a "4MV repair kit" , they are not cheap. but, if you wan to keep the printer, it is worth it.

SOURCE: paper feed
Check tray 1 there should be an arm hanging down in the center of the tray the arm goes thru a slot in the metal plate. This arm moves when you install paper in tray 1. If the arm is missing or not in the slot the machine will think paper is in tray 1 and try to feed from tray 1. You can try changing the paper size setting for tray one to something other than the size in tray 2.
For example If tray 2 is set for 8.5x11 set tray 1 for legal.
The machine should then pull the correct size based on the print job.
Hope this helps
